White Horse Milton — Restaurant in South Cambridgeshire

This is such a horrendous place. And read why.

My friend booked a table for 9 people (including 4 kids) only because of the playground. Table was reserved for us. And the good part of the story ends...

Menus looked filthy. Took waitress 15 mins to bring our drinks and only because I went to the bar and asked for it (apparently she forgot we ordered any. Yes. Forgot.). On the other hand, food was ready very quickly. I would say, surprisingly quickly for a freshly cooked meals... I had fish and chips and the ammount of butter around my fish was somewhat extraordinary- it was at least twice the size of the fish itself. The most disappointing moment for me was when my child discovered piece of plastic in his icecream. I understand this could happen anywhere with anyone, but when it does happen to your child, it makes you angry and upset. The kitchen lady aka cook said she will exclude this position from my bill. Err...ok! Very kind of you! Shall I mention the fact that twice we have been asked to pay the bill because waitress was worried that we would run away... As much as this is absurd (5 adults with 4 kids sneaking out of the pub), its humiliating. In summary- although this place is cheap, but for this level of SERVICE it should be at least free. Never again, even if this is going to be the last...

We used to really like this pub , lovely staff , good roasts and service was good , not sure what's happened but after booking a table for me and my grandparents (89th bday) we arrived and were left standing at the bar for over twenty mins , it seemed there were alot of locals propping up the bar whilst blocking any food orders , seemed very chaotic and we left after 20 mins without even being acknowledged, can't rate the food as we didn't get the opportunity to try it , on the upside we went to the chop house and were seated straight away and the beef was amazing do maybe try there 🙈👍 would agree with other reviews it's a drinkers pub rather than a place to eat , I would of given more stars if we actually got to eat the food or...

Busy during our Sunday lunch visit. Glad booked in advance. Staff where polite but rushed off their feet. Warm family feel. Lovely outside area. The food I feel was a little over priced but not as bad as most places £14 for a beef roast, on website advertised at 12. Not sure how much my daughters kid meal was. Menus where not on the table had to go find them and they where on printed paper. So very filthy. If they laminated them and wipes them would be nicer £45.20 for a Turkey roast no veg extra potatos , beef roast and a kids beef roast a cola and a white wine spritzer. Overall wouldn’t mind going back but not in a rush. Happily try other places before...
