Fantatic place to go for a walk, and also great for taking the kids puddle jumping. My toddler had a great time splashing in the puddles and its level enough for her to totter along without too many trips (she has only been walking a few months). The playpark is also very good. Lots for all ages, two different sized slides so the little ones don't have to compete with the older children. Lots of different swings and a zip line. We walked along one of the easier trails and looped back to the car park.
The little cafe is still open and really well thought out for covid. A kick to activate sanitiser on the door, a one way system and all the staff were wearing visors. They make a lovely hot chocolate, and the prices were decent too.
Parking was easy, we went around 10 in the morning, and there were loads of spaces. Most of the car park is gravel, so on a rainy day it is rather muddy. But they do have a tarmac area for disabled badge holders, which is near the main entrance and the toilets. Their parking meter only accepts contact less cards, but I don't know if that is because of covid or if that always was. But the prices were really reasonable compared to normal Cambridge prices.
The only downside was the runners who didn't look where they were going and nearly toppled our little one a couple of times (not sure how they couldn't see her as she was wearing her fluorescent pink rainsuit). But it seemed like they were more intent on what they were doing than what everyone else was as they nearly took out a...
Read moreLook. To give this patch of paradise anything less than five stars means you either dislike nature or dogs, because the children keep themselves to the most wonderful play park with a large array of climby, swingy, jumpy zippy things. It cannot be overstated the sheer magnitude of fun the park provides for the young ones. So much so the parents can sigh a breath of relief knowing they have actual tangible amounts of time they are able to spend walking along the lakes, chatting over coffee and cake, eating gelato on the grass enveloped in a gentle breeze and calm without fear of it being shattered too soon. Milton park even treats our four legged friends just as well; installing a doggy washer as well as clear signposted large areas for good doggos to go off leash if they want. Whilst keeping everyone informed so as to minimise any issues if unleashed dogs are a concern. Like I said if you don't like being surrounded by beautiful countryside and dogs then you'll love this place. It's a total gem. Word of warning, overcast and cold, raining, hail, high wind with chill, snow (British kind not actual snow etc) weather obviously knocks the place to a negative million stars but it's a park what do you expect. If any country Park is gonna sort out the British climate and it's fickle ways, my money is on Milton but don't expect miracles quickly. Just go enjoy yourself on a nice day and...
Read moreAttended the maiden Paddleboard voyage of Milton Country Parks first 'Half Day River Trip'. This on-going event has been set-up recently to give individuals the opportunity to get experience on riverways, relax in a group setting and familiarise themselves with waterway etiquette. Participants are able to attend after completing the BSUPA 'Ready to Ride/Born to Ride' qualification (also offered at Milton Country Park). During the 3 and a half hour journey we were treated to lot's of wildlife sightings such as tiny Moorhen chicks, lambs, Heron's, Ayrshire calves, Demoiselle Damselflies, Dragonflies and what we think was a Sparrow Hawk picking a fight with a Red Kite. We were led by two knowledgeable guides who instructed us right from the get-go about river licenses, setting up, getting in the water, being on the water and dismounting. It was a delight to be directed by two proficient instructors who were so clearly passionate about what they do. The day gave a lot of us the opportunity to feel more confident about going on solo trips and being able to attend an event so close by was an additional bonus as usually they are outside...
