Greggs — Restaurant in South Holland

Went to Greggs half an hour before closing time today (important!), hoping to enjoy a cup of coffee and maybe grab a bite to eat. Unfortunately, I was informed that it was "takeaway only" and was not allowed to sit down to enjoy my coffee in a takeaway cup (I would have left before the store closed).

I then asked for help selecting a drink to qualify for the cold sandwich and drink meal deal. I specifically asked for a meal deal and was not told that the regular cinnamon latte was not included in it so was charged extra. It was frustrating to realise this after I had already ordered my meal.

Furthermore, I was not given a receipt for my purchase, which should have been automatically offered (or put in my paper bag). When I had trouble scanning the Greggs QR code before paying, I was left to struggle by myself with the unclean scanner. The QR code beeped, but the transaction didn't register in my Greggs app so I lost out on points. All this made me feel like I was a nuisance preventing the staff from closing the store.

Overall, I felt really unwelcome here. The staff seemed more focused on cleaning and closing the store than providing service to customers. While the coffee and sandwich were good, the poor customer service left a bad taste in my mouth.

While I understand that the cleaning must be completed before the store closes, I don't think a customer should be kicked out immediately after making a purchase. All I wanted to do was to drink my coffee while making a phone call so I wouldn't have to juggle a coffee cup, a sandwich and the doughnuts I bought along with my phone :(

Just wanted to add that the service is not always like this, it depends...

First time visit to this branch and the only negative was one member of staff. Initially when I approached the counter there were two members of staff behind the counter (didn't get names), a taller gentleman and a shorter person. The shorter one had no customer service skills what so ever, when I approached the counter there was no greeting, no "how can I help ", absolutely nothing, the shorter one just stood there and stared at me. I requested the first couple of items and then asked about an item that was not out, This was my first interaction with the taller gentleman. He said " just a moment" and came back and said the what I was after would be a couple of minutes. It was not a problem as I was in no hurry. As soon as it was ready it was brought out to me with professionalism and good manners. The order itself was okay normal Greggs bakes and sausage rolls. My only gripe with the food was that the vegan sausage roll was cold, but in the time they have been out, I don't think I've ever had a hot one. Over all good experience, all bar the one person behind the counter who customer service does not...

A lovely greggs to go to! The staff are amazing and always really lovely. The queues go down quickly. To me, greggs as a company is just the place to go for something quick and cheap so I'm not too fussed about service and quality however I felt the need to review because this greggs in particular, especially their customer service is above and beyond some sit down restaurants! Overall take: you get your moneys worth and more, the staff are friendly and just fantastic! Also I tried their cinnamon iced latte and it is amazing, deffo worth the money and if you're not sure do what I did and save up your drinks points for a free one, but I'd definitely...
