We went for an early evening meal and didn't book ahead. Great welcome and we were seated at a very comfortable table with plenty of room and soft seating. The menu was quite limited so three of us chose the lamb cutlets with a bean sauce and some extra chunky chips and our fourth member chose the king prawn linguini. The food came very quickly. Each of us had two small lamb cutlets on our plate which were edible although had very little meat on them and the bean casserole was bland and seemed to be made out of tinned tomatoes and white beans with some herbs but no seasoning or punch. Again the linguini had no taste and the prawns were very small. Apparently there was vodka in the sauce but we couldn't taste it. Even the chunky chips, although a good size, were tasteless so we had to ask for ketchup and mayo. After eating our meals the two men were still hungry as the portions were small, more like starter size. They decided to order more food and the gnocchi and chicken goujons were chosen. The gnocchi was £17:95 but a huge mistake. The plate came covered in a pile of plain rocket and broccoli and was completely tasteless. The goujons were okay once dunked in the barbeque sauce. The skinny fries were also tasteless. We ordered coke which was fine but the ales were poor. Neither had flavour. It was a very expensive meal for the standard of food. However the service was excellent and the atmosphere was friendly but it was a very disappointing and...
Read moreA picturesque pub located in an ideal spot on the Norfolk Broads boasting a fantastic garden and views across the water. I would imagine this would be a perfect getaway in the summer. 13 of us went for a Birthday meal (shame the weather was freezing)
Lovely little pub with some quirks on the walls and bar located in the centre of the building.
The team on hand were fantastic even though there were quite a lot of us.
Most of us ordered the roast dinner, and had options of chicken supreme, pork, beef or the vege option. I had the chicken supreme and did not regret my decision. The chicken was beautifully cooked and came out look fantastic as well. I also ordered a side of cauliflower cheese which is served in a Yorkshire pudding! I loved the idea and who can say no to an extra yorkie!?
My only slight issue with the meal is I would've liked the gravy thicker as it was a little too watery for me but did not do enough to stop me enjoying my meal.
My sister in law had fish n chips which also looked and smelled amazing!
There are kids options too and the portion sizes are generous.
This is the second time we have been now within a year and I have to say this occasion was far better than our first visit.
Now doubt we will be back again as well.
A special shout-out to the girls running the floor that day as they were prompt, always on hand and very patient with the little ones...
Read moreDirected to a table immediately and order taken straight away. From there on, it went downhill. After waiting 1 hour and 15 minutes and having to eventually ask where our food was, it eventually came. What a disappointment. My father, who had ordered roast pork, got a plate with 2 pork slices that looked as though they had been sitting under a heat lamp for a couple of hours and were totally dried out. The roasted potatoes and parsnips were burnt to a crisp, and you were unable to get a fork into. We sent it back and gout a plate of roast pork with slightly better vegetables on. My roast beef was awful as well. I also felt sorry for the people on the table next to us who had 3 young children and experienced the same problem. What was worse was there appeared to be no one in charge who wanted to offer an apology or explanation for the appalling service. Needless to say, I would not recommend...
