I have found going to East hills Bakery and cafe to be a really hit or miss experience.

I went mid October with my friends and had a really lovely time. The blonde woman at the till was really friendly and we had no problems with the service. Though we only ordered drinks. However, I did buy a loaf of bread to take home (I didn't check the date as I assumed that a bakery would have fresh loaves). I discovered that the date on the bread was for the following day. It had visible mould through at least 5 slices. I did not complain because I thought this had been my mistake.

I also went with family today. There were 5 of us and we ordered drinks and food together. The drinks were relatively quick, however the food took ages. For a bakery that mainly services cakes, baps and waffles, they seem to only be able to make waffles one at a time. Two of us ordered the vegan sausage rolls and as we asked for them cold we assumed they would be quick to be plated. We waited for nearly half an hour. After the last waffle plate arrived I asked about them and our server said they were on their way. More time passed. I then went up to the bar and thought if I just hung around and looked like I was waiting then they might be quicker. The server said she'd bring them to my table so I sat down again. When they were eventually delivered they were warm round the outside so they clearly had been heating them. Upon eating it the vegan sausage was fridge cold on the inside! I decided as they were vegan to just eat them at I didn't want to wait another half an hour.

The Bakery are also frequently missing stock of items. Today they were missing: oat milk, bananas (for waffles), gluten free cakes, gluten free shortbread for the gluten free strawberry shortbread waffle. Though they did not tell us about the latter until it was at our table. We received no...

Visited for lunch, ordered and sat down with minimal communication from the staff. Chicken sandwiches arrived and we asked for the coffee which we had ordered- told these where to be collected at the bar. Returned to the bar - note that need to stand and wait for coffee was not communicated at time of ordering otherwise we wouldn't have sat. Also tables around us had theirs delivered.

The staff member told us she was going to recharge us for the coffee if we wanted it.

No explanation of where the original coffee was or apology for not communicating what was expected ( no signage explaining) Also did not call out that there was an unallocated drink, Given there was only 3-4 other tables occupied they did not call us?

Whilst we waited for the drink, another staff member arrived and both started talking under their breath at the coffee machine signalling towards me, displaying their frustration.

We returned to our table and ate our lunch but sandwiches where below average. Chicken pieces with cold sweetcorn still swimming in water from the tin.

Table was sticky and dirty and floor around table was unclean

I don't tend to complain but spending £20+ on two sandwiches and two drinks seems overpriced and alongside the poor service, we left feeling really disappointed.

I visit black barn, cantley & butcher B often so really disappointed with today's experience

Will not...

The cafe has since changed hands, so no little shop to buy gifts that I could see, but we were outside on the balcony. Enjoyed watching the mover lift a yacht and lowered it in to the river. Downside were the exhaust fumes coming from the mover.

Unfortunately, went back for lunch recently and it's only offering cake and coffee, or a full expensive fish menu. So I can no longer recommend East Hills Cafe for lunch. Such a shame really liked this place before, but won't be going back.

We went here today (Sunday) as a birthday meal. Looked on the website and only offered Sunday roast or vegetable tart. That was good enough but when we got there, there was no Sunday lunch, so if you go be prepared to be flexible. I ordered sausages and peas with buttered mash. Without the butter, no couldn't do that as the mash was already prepared. So did I want chips or jacket potato. 🤷‍♀️. It was a very nice meal, but everyone (7) was looking forward to the Sunday roast. So I'm not sure I will go again, maybe they should put a note on the website about the Sunday roast may or may not...

My wife and I took our daughter to East Hills Café Bistro last night to celebrate her excellent end of year A-level results. And it was a real treat, for all of us. The service was absolutely first class, from the exceptional manager and all staff we interacted with. Superb menu knowledge, great advice, friendly and attentive. And the food... incredible! We opted for the small plates, tapas style. Every single dish we ordered was perfect. Beautifully presented, wonderful flavours. So much so, we ordered more and probably ended up try most of the menu. I have to say, the paella was as good as any I've ever had in Spain. It really was that good. The Sweet & Sour Monkfish is also definitely one not to miss. We'll certainly be visiting again. Especially ss we now know the Bistro is dog-friendly too.

Visited Brundall to pick up a vehicle and needed somewhere to wait until pick up time. I tried a cafe along the Main Street but there was nowhere to lock my bike. Looked on Google maps and found this place, where I could safely lock my bike. The cafe is very good, the staff were friendly and service was quick. The sausage and bacon bap was large and extremely tasty. The sun was out in full so I sat on the upstairs terrace and enjoyed the great view this cafe gives you over the marina. It’s a shame I couldn’t see any access to the upstairs for those with mobility issues, but there is a sizeable accessible decking for those nicer days. Overall a very nice stop off, with a lovely view and relaxing atmosphere.

Myself and my partner went to Cremer's Meadow Nature Reserve then wanted a bite to eat and having googled where to eat we decided to come here. We both had a Steak bake which were delicious once warmed along with a lovely cup of Cappuccino. The restaurant is upstairs and has plenty of room. It also has a big balcony with views of the boatyard which doubles as a smoking area, plenty of chairs and tables and a nice garden for the warmer months, again dog friendly with a little pond. There is also a car park and toilets, you can also take food away. This place only opened last year!.
