Saturday afternoon I took a friend for a birthday treat to have a Champagne Tea and I used an Amazon Voucher. Service was ok we were greeted eventually with a smile from the bar staff and the tea, when it arrived, was perfectly ok, as advertised and although it would have been nice to actually of had a choice for sandwiches, whether brown or white bread etc we thought it seemed adequate, nicely presented and freshly made until another 2 ladies sat down at the next table and also had a Champagne Tea, well now that was a tea - same 3 tier presentation but far more for their money! They obviously hadn't purchased theirs with a voucher. Our double take when it arrived at their table was priceless but extremely embarrassing for me. On checking your Tea Menu it would appear that there is only 1 Champagne Tea advertised but there must be something in the small print about having an inferior Tea if purchased with a voucher! Their Tea had more sandwiches and made with brown bread with garnish, they also had 2 scones each plus the selection of cake were bigger pieces . Surely this can not be right as there was no mention when purchasing the voucher via Amazon that the offer was a 'Special Voucher Champagne Tea and that it may differ from the Main Menu.
Would definately not recommend taking someone there for a treat with or...
Read moreI highly recommend the White Hart Hotel for a cozy and historic experience in Dorchester! The 16th-century charm was undeniable, and the overall stay was very pleasant.
Location & History: Nestled in the heart of Dorchester, the White Hart's historical significance adds a truly unique touch to your stay. It's like stepping back in time!
Room & Comfort: Our room was comfortable and clean, with plenty of character. The age of the building certainly adds to the ambiance.
Breakfast: While the included breakfast was good, it could benefit from more options, especially for vegetarians. Perhaps adding some local specialties or lighter fare would elevate the experience.
Parking: Having free parking onsite was a huge plus, especially in a historic town like Dorchester. It certainly eased the stress of our stay.
Overall Impression: Despite the small breakfast misstep, the White Hart's charm, history, and comfort shine through. We had a lovely stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a unique and characterful experience in Dorchester. Just be sure to consider the historic nature of the building and the potential limitations for modern amenities.
Additional Tips:
If you're vegetarian, it might be good to inquire about breakfast options in advance or prepare to supplement with...
Read moreWe stayed here for one night and enjoyed it! Location: Remote village although close to Oxford and other nearby towns, the actually place doesn’t have many amenities although does have a co op opposite! We really enjoyed the local short walks before we checked out.
Staff: Staff were friendly and nice during our stay.
Breakfast: Big breakfast and you get coffee/toast and cereal too so very filling!
Room: We asked for a slightly accessible room due to me being pregnant. The room we were given was very big however very dark! And I think in hindsight I wouldn’t mind going to another room if it meant it was less old perhaps. We could also hear the people above us but that might come with the building. The facilities and room was quite outdated but it was very quaint with wooden beams etc. our toilet got blocked and I did inform staff but it didn’t get resolved before we left. We could use the loo by reception at least in the morning. Our hairdryer also didn’t work which was a shame.
Not sure it was worth what we paid (£135) for the night, I would’ve expected slightly cleaner room/bathroom and no blocked toilet and a hairdryer that works. But it was nice that breakfast...
