I've heard many good reviews about this place so I thought I'd give it ago,
So me, my boyfriend and niece come here today I had really high hopes but I left abit disappointed, not the staff but the food. For some reason the table was sticky we asked a member of staff if he would clean it but he said that the table is always sticky so wiping it wouldn't make a difference, all the tissues and my boyfriends hat got stuck on it.
My boyfriend ordered 16oz ribeye steak medium rare with the beef dripping sauce, and when it come it was more well done, no pink inside and it was really tough so he was abit disappointed, he asked for the beef and dripping sauce and it come out like gravy what's abit odd.
I ordered xl mixed grill, when it come the plate was over flowing with meat but everything tasted bland and over cooked the chicken was tough. The steak was over cooked I asked for medium rare, I understand the plates are hot plates but the steak was on top of the gammon so I know it wasn't cooked any extra on the plate because it wasn't touching the bottom of it, the sausage was lovely I gotta say the sausage was good, but the gammon really fatty.
My niece had mac and cheese and she really enjoyed it.
All of our onion rings aswell on the plate was all soggy not crispy at all.
Maybe the chef is having abit of a bad day.
Over all the experience disappointing, but the staff was nice
I will give it another go soon and I will update my review after I come again but for the moment this is my review on my...
Read moreJust changing my review but still gets 3 stars as been recently .with family and tbh the food looked great from starters to mains. We had nachos and platter sharer to start and I must say it was all very tasty (Chicken wings were delicious) mains were 2 steak and ale pie mains, chip shop curry chicken strips and a xl mix grill. The pie dinners I was told was excellent, and so was the curried strips. My mixed grill was large enough but couple of issues, the steak should have been medium to well but was burned on one side and tasted abit like charcoal and the gammon was extremely salty. Apart from a couple of wasps and these minor issues with the food the place seemed OK, the tables were cleaned well before any customer too. The seating area could possibly do with update as chairs are mix and matched and look old and also carpet dirty in places. I'm adding to this review 6/6/23 as we went the other day and they must have new staff as the lady behind the bar looked new and was extremely polite and couldn't do enough for us plus the food tasted excellent aswell. my previous review wasn't the best but I'll leave it so that they can see that hard work by the team does get appreciated. Well done and top marks...
Read moreWhat an absolutely disgusting menu for vegetarians and vegans. My best friend has recently moved opposite the wheatsheaf restaurant in Great Wyrley. We have been renovating his house and decided to go in here for a meal, what a mistake, the menu in here for vegetarians is nothing short of a bit of halloumi cheese on a wrap and they couldn't even get this right. After looking at my dish and comparing this to the menu I soon realised that I had been short changed and half of my dish hadn't come out. when querying this with the waiting staff she went off to the kitchen came back and said that there'd run out of the mixed peppers that make the dish. I furthermore asked if fries came with my dish she said no and the friars that been turned off so I couldn't order any. granted the waiting staff was polite and offered me a free drink to compensate however I left this then you feeling upset and not satisfied as all my friends had had meat dishes and will fill up I had to go home and cook myself some vegetarian sausages. not a good pub and will not be recommending this to anyone and we all said we will not...
