Attended the star for the first time a few week's back. Lovely little pub/restaurant with a good atmosphere.
Staff were super friendly, accommodating and polite. Honestly couldn't fault the front of house.
We had two meals which were both fantastic, one being the burger which was perfectly cooked with well prepared sundries.
Working locally I had even recommended the star to collogues to give it a try!
Leavening a 3* review as, we attended again. absolutely starving ordered a repeat of the same meal's. Unfortunately they were not of the same standard as the previous meals. The meat was overdone and dry, and missing sundries on both meals.
Were not one for being "Karren's/moaning" but notified the head of house about the meal. Apologies were given but no deduction of the meal or any other offerings (ate 1/2).
Real shame, judge places on being consistent as most consumers do. Honestly first meal was BANG ON!. to be honest i don't think we would return or recommend other's

Read moreHave what you are served and shut up. That's the attitude of this place. Four of us went here including a disabled person who was abused when leaving by people sitting at the bar all because we complained about one of the meals. There was no cutlery on the table. We had to keep going to the bar to ask for drinks. the service was slow. Three of our meals were OK but the hunters chicken was overcooked and burnt on the outside. We ate the chips off this slop and left the disgusting chicken. We said we are not paying for this meal. The waitress was useless and not very polite. Thet tried to knock 4 quid off because the chips had been eaten. This place is OK if you accept what they bring you and go along with their useless service. If you complain the bar flies at the bar are ready to give you abuse and intimidate you even if you are disabled. We paid the bill but did not pay for the hunters chicken. What a disgusting attitude from the staff and customers to a disabled person...
Read moreOur family have had a rough few months with our son who has leukaemia he is undergoing intense chemo and we have to be so careful when going anywhere, The owners of the star inn invited us down for a meal they actually kept a whole room sectioned of for us so we wouldn’t have close contact with others, The food was out of this world and the service by these guys was outstanding they treated us so so well. Massive thank you to you all and to see the other customers just as happy was great. We highly recommend this pub to everyone you will not be disappointed. 👍👍👍 see you all again...
