Michael's is a South Shields institution , having fed the people of Shields for over 30 years. Although the original Michael has long retired it's great to see his legacy is living on . Delicious home cooked food served by warm engaging people at affordable prices. But more is how they look after the local community and make their regulars their friends. From the young mums needing somewhere to feed their children ; to the older ones needing a chat to the autistic guy who just needs a safe space. I like this cafe and food was cooked well, clean enviroment, pleasant staff. I ordered a breakfast, basic a bland £6 + one of everything. A very small breakfast and a disappointed effort compared with other venues in the area for a lower price. I declined the instant coffee sold at restaurant prices. All in all this cafe could offer better service with a few finials...

Huge portions of lovely tasty food. The cafe is very clean, staff are polite . Well worth a visit especially on a cold windy day. This was my first visit, and it won't be my last. I'm looking forward to going back this Saturday...
