Beechwood Guest House — Hotel in South Tyneside

Lovely guest house in South Shields. Superb location as you are only a short walk from the beach, marine gardens parks, the leisure centre and shops in south shields. Short walk to the metro station too where you can get metro straight to Newcastle city centre in about 25 mins. free parking outside on the road which was great for unloading. I never had trouble finding a spot, surrounding roads also free to park too but could be busy in the summer. There are some nice restaurants literally opposite the guest house and pubs nearby. Ocean road is full of places to eat. Visit the Alum ale house or the steamboat down by the Tyne river. I stayed here for 3 nights in February (tues to friday). I was in the standard single room. Its not the biggest but for a short stay its well appointed with small en-suite. Shower was powerful and hot. There was a full size fridge too. Smart tv on the wall above the bed. My room was at the front and i wasnt disturbed by noise. The trees outside are lit up at night which makes the area look nice. The owner Rez is an absolutely lovely guy. Very friendly and helpful. I paid £8 extra per day for the full English breakfast. Highly recommended. It was a lovely start to the day and you’ll probably be able to skip lunch. Stayed 5 nights, spent most of my stay in the room itself. The room was excellent for the price, certainly wasn't missing anything, including an EU to UK plug adapter. Everything was clean and cozy. The bathroom had everything I needed although the water pressure was a little low at times.

There was plenty sunlight despite the relatively small window. The bed, pillows and blanket were all very comfortable. The movable arm for the television was a rather nice touch. Kind of wish there was a Chromecast in it, I'll remember to bring my own next time.

Having stayed in numerous guesthouses, airbnb's and hotels in the South Shields area; the Beechwood is my favourite. Rez (the owner) is always on hand and extremely polite and helpful. I've stayed in 3 of his rooms and for me they are faultless. Very clean, very well decorated (nothing looks tired) real comfy beds and Rez has thought of everything that could make your stay comfortable. Shower gel and shampoo dispensers in the shower (which are powerful and hot). Blackout blinds and curtains. Fold out tables. USB sockets for charging. A fridge and hot drink facilities. A smart TV. Fan. Fast WiFi and a very very good breakfast. The place is perfectly situated on Ocean Rd opposite the 2nd best pub in town and all the restaurants and takeaways you could wish for. TOP marks!...
