Mio’s — Restaurant in South Tyneside

This was my first time at Mio’s but unfortunately probably the last. Let me say I can’t fault the pleasantness of the staff and my unfavourable review is a reflection of the clientele.

I arrived alone awaiting my sister in law to join me. It was a cold day and not too busy on arrival before 11am. I sat at a table near the window to watch for my guest arriving who is on crutches so as to help her inside. Two old ladies arrived and one looked at me and turned to the other to complain that I was sitting at a table for 4 on my own. A pregnant lady and her partner arrived, also sitting at a table for 4. The old ladies were then joined by another 2 friends and they complained to staff there were no tables for 4. The staff member asked the pregnant lady and her partner to move which I felt unfair. I have never seen anyone be asked to switch tables in other coffee shops.

It was also quite cold in the cafe. Sadly the complaining customers soured this experience for me and I feel that asking people to swap tables wasn’t customer friendly. Sadly old people enjoy...

Went for lunch , food was good nearly finished meal moved lettuce leaf with fork and there was a hair under it . Told one of the servers , bear in mind i had not asked for my money back at ,all just told them about the hair . She then came back with the plate ,money in other hand , and said we dont know were the hair has come from as all our servers have long hair. But you can have your money back . No sorry about that nothing , so i said are you saying its mine and i put it there . I said keep the money and walked out . Not a sorry or what can we do . Just no blame because they...

Very small and over packed with tables making accessibility difficult, but they're always so busy. Seems nice and clean when you first go in and there's a quiet room out the back packed full of toys, although they could do with cleaning up a bit. I don't think they clean the highchairs. I had an all day breakfast I wasn't particularly impressed with, one of the sausages was undercooked, the toast was pretty much bread and an overcooked egg, although my grandmother thoroughly enjoyed hers. The cuppas are really nice and the staff are vet friendly...
