Nando's Boldon — Restaurant in South Tyneside

For the first time we ordered peri peri chips with our chicken platter. Two large sides, one of which was the peri peri chips. We really wanted to try these. The order was taken and at the time the server knew that they were not able to provide peri peri chips. We were not advised of this. If we had been we would have taken the rice. So when the food arrived we had plain chips which we complained about and then the waiter brought some peri peri shakes and told us to shake it ourself. First of all we don't know what they are supposed to taste like so we didn't know how much to put on. Secondly the chips had cooled now from the pan and probably it's not as good. The main point is we still don't know how peri peri chips should taste according the how they are served. Before leaving I saw the server who took my order and he agreed he knew when he took my order that he wasn't able to serve peri peri chips. He wasn't apologetic at all. Thought it was OK for us to serve ourselves despite me telling him we had no idea how Nandos think the chips should taste so our whole experience had been spoilt. Very disappointed. Obviously the chicken tasted as good and the claw was good but the whole thing was spoilt by bad customer service, communication and not getting...

I have revisited after leaving a good review 2 years ago! I again was blown away by the level of service the staff could not do enough to help and specifically Lisa caught my eye while seating customers and addressing questions around menu with everyone with patience warmth and understanding! She is an absolute credit to nandos. She even took the time seating us to go over the new menu items! We usually order the same thing every time but due to her showing us new items my boyfriend went for the new buyer on offer!

Fantastic visit again! And my last review is below as I was leaving a second and worried it would just edit and loose the last good review!

Walked in to order a take out, could clearly see it was very busy with all the tables full and deliveries and collections. The staff where OUTSTANDING! All managing to keep a smiley and positive attitude doing their best to accommodate people while being efficient and friendly. I'm so impressed as I know working in service when busy can be abit tough!!! Managed to place an order at the till go put some fuel in my car then come back and collect my food!!! So I didn't want to give 1 star. But I could . I'm a big fan of Nando's in the uk.

However after having food there on Wednesday evening I need to make some points.

The manager was a very lovely man and so were his staff.

However when I was at the till counter ordering extra drinks I watched the young cook on the bbq grill. She used the same tongs to pick raw meat from storage containers and turn over partially cooked chicken ... over and over. I kinda grimaced and wondered if I should flag it up.

I thought maybe this is their normal procedure so continued with my order and ate the bbq chicken etc. Which was as nice as ever.

However my mother and myself hadn't felt great since. Not food poisoning but feverish tired and a bit too regular to the loo...

I'm still feeling a bit shabby today .. Friday.

It might just be a coincidence but touching newly cooked meat with tongs that have taken raw meat from a storage box can't be good practice. I'm a good home cook and never allow raw meat utensils to come into contact with...
