I would like to express my dissatisfaction with my recent experiences at this establishment. While my prior visits were satisfactory, my most recent visit did not meet my expectations. Consequently, I have decided not to return in the future, and I will convey my concerns to my acquaintances regarding their potential visits. It appears that there may be significant room for improvement in customer service. I would like to bring to your attention my recent experience at your establishment. After making a reservation for a table near the fireplace, I arrived only to find that my designated table was occupied by other patrons. Despite my inquiries regarding the situation, I did not receive any assistance or acknowledgment from the staff.
As a temporary solution, we were seated next to the restroom for approximately 15 minutes, during which time no staff members checked on us or took our order. I would also like to point out that the guests occupying my reserved table were aware of the reservation, as the staff had removed the name card indicating my booking, preventing me from noticing it.
Moreover, I observed a disparity in the attention and service extended to patrons of British origin compared to those of other nationalities. This experience was disappointing and does not reflect the level of service I expect from your establishment. It was noticeable that the treatment towards the customer exhibited elements that could be perceived as discriminatory. The unwelcoming demeanor ultimately led to our decision to depart, indicating a lack of concern for creating an environment where all customers feel valued and respected. This approach could hinder their ability to attract repeat business, which is essential for financial success. Therefore, I would advise potential patrons, particularly those from diverse backgrounds, to consider alternative establishments where they may receive more...
Read moreSome time ago we called to reserve a table by the fireplace, we called at 12:06. The pub opens at 12:00 so no one could have booked a place before us, especially since we were talking to someone who seemed to think so, or so I thought. At the place where I showed up 10 minutes before, it turned out that the table was occupied because someone just sat down and that was fine, we asked what happened but the woman who was not nice and treated us like air, after some time a guy came and offered us a place, temporarily next to the toilet, (I will just point out that there were other free places everywhere but next to the toilet it is very good to sit, especially when it comes to eating) no one came up to us, no one talked to us, we were pushed to another place, they did not even clean it because I immediately found the previous people's bag, of course I gave it back and left, it was obvious that English customers are treated better because they asked them 3 times if I could get them anything else, racism is present in this pub, it does not deserve even half a star, I hope that this ridiculous racist pub sinks one day, stay away, waste of...
Read moreNot very good. We used to go to the Ship often when we lived in the New Forest. We now live in the south of France. Last night we arranged to meet with some friends for a Christmas dinner. The service was very slow. It took 45 mins between the main course and dessert. We asked where it was after 30 minutes elapsed to be told by a waitress 'It's coming' before we had to ask again. We were then visited by the assistant manager who apologised profusely and offered free drinks that we declined. Eventually, the desserts arrived at the same time as the hot mince pies that should have been last. We paid our bill and the assistant manager kindly took the price of the wine off the bill. However, she declined to explain the reasons for the long delay citing kitchen politics. The whole evening was a great disappointment and when we visit the UK and Southampton again, we will not be...
