A charmingly lovely pub after a stroll around London Colney. Stone floors wooden beams on the ceiling and various different sections to sit whether noshing or sploshing. Humans would be happy with a varied menu and their four-legged canine friends might be happy with the three dolly treats and bowls of water. At least three dogs during our visit, this is a popular pub with dogs. I'm a teddy that adores fish cakes; so I couldn't wait to tuck into the fish cake with poached egg and hollandaise sauce, accompanied with new potatoes and asparagus. The wonderfully creamy soft mashed potato coated in breadcrumbs acted like a fluffy sleeping bag to the the fish ( rather too little fish for my liking) but potato was so yummy that I will forgive them. The hollandaise sauce was simple without any sickly feeling it can sometimes have. It was a shame that the asparagus had the woody bit left on and overall what's showing signs of wilting. A busy staff is friendly and make sure that the dogs have water. A very nice pub, particularly if you are bringing the dog, or a teddy bear! Alright very welcome in the drinking area they are not in the dining area. Which is just as well I guess. I assume teddy bears are allowed in the dining area because we were with dog we eating this drinking area.

Update 2024: 1 year later and the FOX has smashed it out the park again! Everything is easy to arrange, the staff are all on the case and the selection of beers and wines and spirits keeps a constant purr of happy punters through the bar. We stayed for two nights and they looked after us like old friends. The garden was well lit and, when it got a little chilly later in the evening the heat lamps were very welcome. There is a LOT of lovely local bird life if that's your thing. We saw pigeons, sparrows, wrens, crows, jackdaws, Robins, gulls and two giant buzzards.... Possibly a kite too circling way overhead. Highly recommend this place it's like a little oasis and an ideal base if you're going to SLAM DUNK! Also the breakfast is cracking. I'd annihilated most of it before I thought I should take a snap. Those sausages are ACE. 2023: Stayed the weekend FOR SLAM DUNK festival and we had a great time here at the Fox. Chilled drinks the evening before and a quality breakfast each morning to set you up for the day. Staff very professional, friendly and polite and handled us gently the morning after, which I was really appreciative for, along with the extended check out hours! Thanks to all the team at the Fox, who made us very welcome, we'll see you again next year!

Been a few years since I last had a Sunday lunch at the Conley Fox, "well not much has changed" I visited the the fox with my wife and mother for what I though would be a pleasurable Sunday lunch this turned out not to be the case! The bar was very quite not many people inside or out, the restaurant it'self was only half full, the first thing I noticed was the lack of staff! considering it was a very sunny day, we waited 10 mins to be shown to our table this would be the norm if busy. Now sitting down we embarked on ordering some refreshments this took 10 mins to arrive after ordering, moving on from this my wife and I decided on the traditional English roast beef lunch (Not much can go wrong here since we live in England) my mother opted for her favourite fish and chips. 15 mins later the meals turned up, I will talk about the roast beef first. The roast beef meals looked appetizing enough, mine was luke warm my wife's was stone cold! we then called the waiter back and asked him if he could re-heat the cold meal, after a few mins in the microwave this came back piping hot. Half of my plate was taken up by something that looked like a giant Yorkshire pudding to the left with a pile of green vegetables in the center(might be cabbage) with 3 slices beef underneath followed by 2 sliced carrots accompanied one sliced parsnip too the right. Honestly the only part of this I would say was acceptable to eat was the carrots and parsnip. The green vegtable was stringy chewy stumps as for the beef this was tough and grizzly my wife's meal was just as bad. My mother had the fish and chips, she ate everything but she was realy hungry. When we managed to get a waiters attention we then ordered more refreshments these took 15 mins to arrive, feeling very fatigued now so I managed to catch the eye of the elusive waiter and asked for the bill " well blow me down this took 10 mins to travel 20ft to our table. I left a tip as large as the effort put in by all the staff this was a very big ZERO. I will think very hard about going back again in 2 years time if ever. Avoid is the best advise I can give You. The restaurant owner's need to seriously consider making improvents if they want to compete with the Bull pub across the road.

Went there with family for Fathers' Day lunch. Not impressed. Terrible service! Even after we were sitted, we had to get the attention of a staff before we could get our drinks order taken. The tables and chairs outside didn't look clean. Most had bird poo on the seat and backrest. We were not given napkins, and they kept supplying the cutlery late... after the starter and the main. Something we ordered was missing from our order and yet it was added to the bill. We ordered another pint of beer and soft drink that never came. Long waiting time between meals, and for our tables to be cleared. Not a great atmosphere. The food looked good, but nothing special. A little tasteless, to be honest. Will not be going back, and cannot recommend.

Nice pub where you can also eat. First of all I recommend to start with some nibbles like chicken wings. Delicious the prawns with sausages. You can try Steak & Ale Pie. It's made with beef, root vegetable and ale sauce topped with puff pastry. It's served with mash, seasonal vegetable. Another choice might be Hunter's Chicken. We're talking of chicken breast with smoked cheddar and streaky bacon on top. It's garnished with Portobello mushrooms in a smoky tomato sauce, chunky chips and barbecue sauce. As a dessert I suggest not taking British cheese. The only reason is because the portion is too big. You can enjoy it as a single meal.

Myself and my partner decided to try the roast dinner this evening at The Colney Fox. Unfortunately they'd run out of Turkey by the time we arrived at the restaurant just before 5:30pm. Had the lamb instead which I did find to be quite chewy. Everything else on the plate was delicious! 👌. Service was a little slow and took a while for the waiter to take our order. I would come here again maybe during the week when it's a little less busy. Nice relaxing atmosphere in the restaurant. I particularly like the beer garden. Overall I would recommend The Colney Fox to friends and family.
