Quirky place…not sure whether to call it a cafè, resturant or bar, however the atmosphere was relaxed & the food was lovely. Small menu in the evening & not your ‘normal’ meals which felt strange at first, then quite a refreshing change…variety of home made sausage rolls, ploughman’s, cheese platter, nachos…along with few other choices, served with pickles & salad. Service was quick & the prices are good. I felt it was a little cold inside…however others were fine. Some locals were knitting whilst having a chat, cyclists met there mid ride, dog are allowed inside - as I said; quirky, but nice.

Went in for breakfast, waited for it 30mins and turns out it wasn’t ours. Coffee arrived after food. When we finally got our breakfast, the bread was burnt and it was missing butter on side. Bacon was crispy and dry (burnt) and beans were cold. Poached egg was hard. In addition, mushrooms were missing as well. When questioned about the mushrooms, we have been told they ran out (it would have been fine with us if they just mentioned they ran out rather than hide the fact and see if we notice). Also, no table numbers so orders get mixed up constantly! Food was average. I will not return.

An enjoyable and trendy cafe by day. But by night a trendy bar. I only visited during the daytime and found it a pleasent place to enjoy a spot of lunch and some tea. But oh wow, the tea! If you only visit to use the tea infuser... Such a novelty. Menu items are as expected for a cafe and priced within the usual amounts. What's nice the mix of people there. I mean sure there were some trendy hipsters, with their iPhone and iMacs, drinking iCoffee. But they co-habbited happily with OAPs, and families, all enjoying this bare bricked, shabby-sheek venue.

Visited BOD Stafford for the first time on Friday 03 January 2020 having spotted it's entry in the new Good Beer Guide. We have visited the BOD Newport just after it opened and it was interesting to see the first of the BOD outlets.

The BOD Stafford is in the right hand end unit of a three storey 1960's brick built block with shops on the ground floor and apartments above.

STRUCTURE & ACCESSIBILITY

The BOD Stafford has a main double door at the front of a glazed window with easy access from a flat wide paved area. The BOD has just one large main room with the bar occupying the rear left hand corner. The left hand side of the bar is for food orders whilst the drinks bar is against the rear wall.

The room has a variety of tables at different heights with some at a higher level with stools. The floor and doorway is completely flat so it should make access very easy.

The toilets are in a corridor to the rear right hand side of the main room. The ladies and gents are interestingly identified by the gender of the shoes which are attached to the doors ! A disabled toilet is just past these , each toilet is a single room so there is often a wait on busy times like Friday Night

FOOD & DRINK

The BOD Stafford is part of the Titanic Brewery chain and has six real ale hand pumps on the bar. We had halves of Titanic Cherry Dark and Titanic Plum Porter. We can highly recommend the Plum Porter which we found in excellent form as dark real ale drinkers.

A counter to the left hand side of the drinks bar is where the food orders are taken . The food looked very nice and appeared to be very popular with the customers.

CUSTOMERS & ATMOSPHERE

The BOD Stafford was very busy at our time of visiting , early Friday Night. We managed to get a seat at a table with a couple of friendly local students. The students were welcoming and we were soon engaged in discussion about beer, university life and lots more. The place was noisy with the noise of conversation and quiet background music but conversation was still easy with people on the same table. The staff were busy but generally friendly and willing to talk in the quieter moments.

We would recommend the BOD Stafford as a good watering hole with atmosphere although it might prove difficult to access...

Ordered my favourite salmon eggs florentine. The poached eggs were firm but runny inside. Salmon was quality and all served on freshly toasted English muffin buttered as requested. Perfectly presented. I always like extra hollandaise. Service was quick and efficent. The member of staff even remembered that I like extra sugar from a previous visit. I was first in this morning, but by 9am quite a lot of people, families enjoying the place. It's a chilled out atmosphere with lots of space to come and relax when catching up with friends or family over some food or even a cup of speciality tea. Free WiFi. Very friendly staff. Great parking opposite at the coop Bodmin. Kid friendly. I would highly recommend.

Update 3.11.23

Three years ago I did give this place 5 stars. You can read my review score above. As you can tell I do love my egg floretine as a favoured breakfast. Over the last 3 or 4 times, I have visited, the eggs have been very hit and miss. Sometimes they are over cooked, i.e hard and as today, one was under cooked. I requested it to be done again. Unfortunately it came back undercooked. Unfortunately the consistency has been up and down with this place. From excellent to poor. I don't really want to start my day with a suboptimal breakfast. I did report this to the manager and they welcomed the feedback. I certainly won't be going back for while asuntil they get...

A great place for a quick coffee stop or to while away the afternoon with a good drink, good food and good friends. Family friendly as well as adult friendly, well laid out to accommodate a range of party sizes and a good menu range. The ideal cafe/bar set up with a friendly and relaxing set up. I love spending time here, so easy to pass a few hours by in this place. Only four stars because the staff are sometimes lacking in experience in dealing with issues that on the whole are minor, but they seem to take anything personally or struggle to deal with it when it really is something simple to solve. Not had any completely direct problems with the staff, always find them nice, but witnessed it with other customers. If it's something they lack the experience to handle, they get very defensive and a little offish with the customer which of course, no one wins as it becomes a bit of an ego thing. If the staff could reflect on this then they would find life a lot easier and this amazing place would be even better. Smile at the customers, be nice and not condescending when it gets a bit challenging and then this place will be...
