Sizzling Pub Grill — Restaurant in Stafford

Recently attended this pub with friends for a catch up following the recent lockdown. The following points were experienced and finished the afternoon in an unpleasant way and I will not be returning again.

Staff were rude from the time some of us entered as they were not happy that they did not have the track and trace app without having an alternative way to take details. We felt watched by staff as the afternoon went on. Service was seen with the staff member rolling her eyes. One party member stood up as they felt hot and we were told this was not allowed but no clear advise on what was allowed was given leading to us pointing out that they did not have windows open for ventilation as per government guidance. However respectfully all then remained seated. Assumptions made about some members of the party being boisterous and interpreted as had too much to drink led to a hault on drinks but no real explanation given until we asked. All of this delivered by a poor waitress as manager did not feel it was obviously for them to have that conversation with us.

Usually excellent, but although l asked if we should book a table, was told that it wasn't necessary. Unfortunately a coach load had arrived that day, so food & service was not up to its usual standard. The menu is good & caters for vegans, but the 2 meal for the over 60's had been deleted, which was disappointing!! We shall go again but book a table in advance to avoid another...

Refurbished to high standard indoor decor and more seating area is lovely, outdoor more seating space. Welcoming staff on entrance, new menu with plenty of choice, mixed grill and chicken skewer we chose really tastey and good proportions given, all staff very friendly, well done to all to kitchen/bar, waiters and manager Lisa for an enjoyable evening.
