GEM OF A PUB in every way. If you want to visit a truly genuine pub, in the heart of Eccleshall, with incredible history ( the old coach house room is just so great) I cannot recommend The Royal Oak in Eccleshall highly enough. I went down into the town to try and find a space for my “all ages” family to celebrate the Platinum Jubilee, on a really quite wet Sunday. Doubting we could stay for long I then walked into the Oaks coach house, with its huge arches, open at either end, to find hay bales and a real “country family day out”welcome. Amazing food being cooked outside , the Yorkshire puddings were the best ever, my niece assured me. My young nephews spent the whole day playing on the hay bales, with children of all ages, listening to the fantastic tribute bands outside. The staff were so positive and hard working, the toilets were spotless all day. If you go on a non jubilee day, there is still plenty to enjoy, lots of space for family’s to relax, great staff, spotless cleaning, amazing traditional pub food, and a fabulous history. They have great events and regular entertainment evenings including an Open Mike night. What more could you want. Thank you to all of the staff for a truly great memorable day that all generations will never forget. The Royal Oak is a real gem...

Read moreCalled in for a drink at The Royal Oak on Bank Holiday Monday 27 August 2018. We had thought about having a meal but when we telephoned before hand we found out that The Royal Oak stopped doing food at 4:00 on that day.( Which I could not find on their website).
It was our first visit to The Royal Oak since it became updated by Joules Brewery with some nice touches such as stained glass Joules sections in the front window and wooden points of interest - Geoff Hurst - world cup winner of 1966 used to own and run The Royal Oak.
We had a drink of average Joules Slumbering Monk ( £3.40) and felt that the place felt as though it lacked something. It has plenty of space including a rear outdoor area and several rooms across the front of the property.
We parked in the street by the pub but I expect it might be more difficult on a working day.
The toilets are a walk down a corridor to the rear of the property including a toilet for...
