Visited here on 26th August. It's hard to believe this is the same pub it used to be, the interior is lovely and a far cry from the dingy side street pub it used to be. The food was amazing. I loved the option to fill in the menu myself, I asked for my steak to be well done with a few extra ✔✔ for good measure and it was good perfectly without being dried out or flavourless. The peppercorn sauce was really full of flavour and the fries were lush. Had the Beer'd up mushrooms to start which were divine. The waiter and waitresses were lovely, especially with the kids and overall couldn't recommend it enough. The portion sizes were huge too.

Had such a wonderful date with my fella at The Tap. I'm a vegetarian and had the chilli garlic pasta. Which was absolutely in.cred.ible! My other half had a stake topped with haggis. He said it melted in his mouth. For dessert we had creme brulee. The sugar on top was a bit over done and tasted burnt but didn't effect the night The food was so delicious we planned our next trip there before we left. Highly recommend. The only thing I would mention, more so for for the restaurant owners, the desserts dint state whether they are vegetarian or vegan. It would be really handy to know.

This place is just off a main road, so could easily be missed. But if you can try to make it as you will be happy with your choice. Small things such as house water came in a jug with a glass full of ice with a slice of lemon. This is not something that others make this sort of effort and also try the garlic bread with the trimmings- delicious. We both had steak, sirloin and rib-eye. Both done to our requested cook level. Would definitely recommend this to others and hope you will also enjoy the meal(s). Staff were very attentive and helpful which also makes a enjoyable visit.

2 out of the 6 starters were that acidic that they were almost inedible. The crispy belly belly wasn't crispy at all it was soft and rubbery. One of the steaks was ordered medium but it came out rare so it was sent back, after a couple of minutes it came back out and was still under done so again it was sent back, only this time we were confronted by an unhappy chef who was keen to point out that the steak in question was cooked perfectly. It was only when we pointed out that compared with another steak that was cooked to medium he agreed to cook another one but by this time everyone else had finished there meal leaving one person to dine alone. Just before we left, one of our party members bumped into the chef when exiting the ladies and a conversation took place outside the toilet door which wasn't the time or place to be talking about her customer experience. After spending almost £210 the dining experience wasn't great and we won't...

Very poor!! New menu the day we booked, only to be told when we sat down there was no ribs or pies due to running out! There was only one other set of diners in the place. Starters were inedible and the chicken wings had obviously been fried on more than on occasion, they were so dry! Steaks over cooked, full of gristle and sinew and cold chips! The response from the chef was that because the steaks were quite thin they are easy to overcook, and heres me thinking this was Stafford's Premier Steak restaurant. We didn't eat the starters or the mains and in fairness we weren't charged for the meal. Not a great impression, booked on a recommendation from a friend. But will not be going back. Chef must have had an off day that night! Looking at the other reviews on here we can only assume that...

You always worry when you've had a good meal, recommend the place to friends, and they say 'let's all go'. You have to hope the good food wasn't a fluke. Well, it wasn't a fluke. Thankfully. Haggis and black pudding stacks, garlic mushrooms and a baby ceasar to start. All stunningly presented, and all lived up to expectations. Perfectly cooked sirloin and fillet steaks (ranging from medium rare to well done) a burger and buttermilk chicken with BBQ ribs came next. Probably the quietest our table was for the whole evening as we just sat and ate the delicious food. The mushroom and Stilton sauce was stunning. The service was excellent - friendly and always visible, without hovering. A good range of drinks at reasonable prices. We'll...
