This is more a rating for the festival than the centre. Deeply disappointed by this event which we all felt was over hyped as one of the main attractions was a roundabout an unusual roundabout it has to be said and the couple who operated it were fantastic. However it was on the programme and it looked as if the roundabout was a 45 minute event not a five minute ride. The whale story was the same. Up to a 30 minute wait for 5 minutes in a time can shaped like a whale. Again not the fault of the gentleman running the whale but it sounded so different in the blurb prior to arrival. The tale of Peter rabbit was badly let down by the layout and lack of facilities. We saw this last year and it was excellent it was the same group but they could hardly be heard above all the other noise. Still good but ashame. No seats and park and ride made it impossible to bring your own met a granny with her disabled grandchild and heavily pregnant daughter who were finding it a challenge. The parking was a nightmare with tall grass being flattened by a tractor when we arrived. Ticks abound I this type of setting and it seemed at best poorly thought out and worst a potential hazard. The information said the buses would run continuously we waited over half an hour for a bus on the way in. Parked at 11.05 finally got to the event at 11.55. On the way back there was us and a lady with her two grandchildren we had to wait 15 minutes for the minibus to go and we were stood near it for that time. The setting was cramped and so poorly signposted that had it not been for another family we would not have found the way out. Worst day out in a very long time. My 7 year old grandson was very disappointed. We left by 2 and that included a...

A beautiful little nature reserve that's very peaceful. It's all looked after, well maintained and is home to many species of birds and wildlife. The cafe is great and right next to the entrance. It's mostly wheelchair accessible with a few paths being the exception. There is a walkway that has been constructed over the small lake which wheelchairs and prams can easily stroll over. There is plenty of seating and plenty of birds to feed. There is direct access to the riverside which is great in the summer as you see kids paddling in the shallow river. Parking is £1.50 for half a day and £3 for a full day. There are activities for kids occasionally too. You also have a garden centre...

This is regarding the coffee shop with the soft play inside the garden centre

Not much customer service… 3 people behind the counter with 1 taking orders and making drinks whilst the other 2 ignore the queue. Tables were cleared but none were cleaned, spilled food and drink covered all of them. Customers next to us had their drinks placed around the spat out pieces of cucumber and breadcrumbs instead of having their table cleaned. They were also reminded that next time they need to wait for their drinks at the till as they don’t do table service. Genuinely didn’t see one tabled being wiped by any of the 5 or 6 people in uniform...

Easy parking (donation charge only), picnic tables on nearby grassland. Visitor centre, toilets, gift shop and cafe with terrace. Easy access paths suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs, alongside several lakes and large ponds. This is also a nature reserve, so plenty of wildlife here including ducks and geese which are accessible and human friendly as they like to be fed (boxes of wild bird food available to buy for £2.50). More elusive birds here too including the kingfisher which is much sought after by the long-lensed cameras. Very pleasant and picturesque setting.

We stopped here to break up a long drive back north and were not disappointed. We had a lovely lunch in the café, some fish fingers and beans for the little one and paninis for us. We bough some duck feed from the shop and went to explore. Fed the ducks and went for a run around the sensory garden. It seemed a little bit wild and overgrown and the swing was taped off but we enjoyed exploring anyway. We then continued our walk. The water bridge was a highlight for our son as we couldn't get him out. Bought a couple of lovely coffees and went on our way.

Brilliant, hidden gem of Stafford. Lovely walks around the site, everywhere you go, there is a new little surprise. The river Trent runs through the back of the site, where there is access to have a little paddle if you feel like it. The nice Visitor Centre and large car park are ideal as a starting point. Containing a small shop that sells a few ice lollies and drinks if you want them. It is not the biggest site, but perfect for a picnic and to spend a good few hours with the children.
