The Lazy Trout is an excellent pub – warm, welcoming, and with a lovely interior that makes you feel right at home. The food was superb from start to finish, and the customer service was spot on.
We both ordered a starter and a main, and everything was beautifully prepared. The soup had a perfect texture and flavour, served with a fresh roll on the side. The filo parcel was a real standout – full of unique, delicious flavours, and something I’d highly recommend trying.
For mains, we both went for pies – one steak & ale and one vegetarian lentil pie. Both were outstanding: rich, flavoursome, and melt-in-the-mouth good. The portion sizes were just right – generous without being over the top. The chips deserve a special mention too: crispy, golden, and absolutely delicious.
As much as we loved our meals, we couldn’t help but notice the other dishes coming out of the kitchen. The burgers looked huge and impressive, while the fish & chips also looked fantastic. Definitely something to try on our next visit!
The staff were attentive without being intrusive, and the service was impressively quick – our food arrived hot and fresh before we even had a chance to try out the pub games on offer!
All in all, a fantastic experience. Great food, great service, hearty portions, and a wonderful atmosphere. We didn't think £55 was too bad for the amount we got with drinks ect. We’ll...
Read moreWe had lunch on a Saturday here. First of all I ordered some drinks, bar guy needs a to learn how to great customers and serve properly. When I asked for something he replied ‘err’ as opposed to pardon or similar. I told him what drink I wanted and pointed him to the tap that the beer was on but he still started to pour the wrong beer. Food was average I had the ribs (4) and was just average. Chips were not piping hot either on all of our meals. The ale pie which my wife had was very nice. The KFC chicken burger my son had wasn’t anything special either. The guy tried to up-sell bacon by asking my son if he was wanted bacon on. Of course a 12 year old isn’t going to say no is he. But I took that off the order. Those questions should be directed to the parents not the child. I went back to the bar to order a few more drinks ‘coke with no ice please’ - only to be served with a pint glass with coke and ice. I was disappointed so we didn’t stay for any more drinks. On our walk back we went to the Three Horse Shoes country Inn. I wish we’d had eaten there as the service was very good. I’ll be writing a separate review for the...
Read moreBooked at the last minute for 5 adults and 9 children aged 12 to 1 years old and we have just had the BEST experience. From the minute they picked up the phone nothing was too much trouble. Friendly, welcoming, helpful, fabulous food and it came quickly - which given how busy they were was incredible. Menu was really good and everything we had was delicious and great portion sizes. Kids meals were lovely and really good to see a couple of choices that weren’t of the ‘chicken nuggets and chips’ variety (although these were on as well and enjoyed by those that had them). They effortlessly made the changes that were requested by the children to ensure they all had a plate of food they wanted and therefore thoroughly enjoyed. It’s very rare we find somewhere that is genuinely this family friendly. We will definitely be back. Thank you so much for the perfect ending to our few days in the...
