The Bowling Green — Restaurant in Stratford-on-Avon

Very underwhelming experience. Gammon 'steak' was so thin it would better be described as a large rasher of bacon. My fiancée had a burger, which looked awful and apparently tasted as bad as it looked as she could only stomach half of it despite its tiny size. It was overcooked and dry. The waitress service was of similar quality to the food. The sauces we requested didn't appear until we were half way through our food. The second round of drinks we ordered were added to the bill but never arrived at the table. By the end we were quite keen to leave, but even payment was a struggle. The bill was unceremoniously dumped at the table while I sat there with my card in my hand and we were left to figure out for ourselves that you have to go to the till to pay... Very expensive for school meal quality food and service. Re: response from owner, yes we were definitely at the bowling green for the retro revival... Food was ok... price was fair... service was rubbish... Placed my order for food and drinks and said we will eat outside... She said collect your drinks from the bar (fair enough) oh and take your cutlery and sauce's etc as well...she watched me struggling trying to carry two drinks and cutlery and sauce's etc...so I said i can't carry it all I'll have to come back.... (No offer to help) ...so off I went to deliver drinks into the garden ,then back again for the cutlery etc.... Twenty minutes later food arrived (surprised I didn't have to collect it) my partner asked"can we have a high chair for our baby"... Waitress replied yes if you want to go and get one... Very poor service... sorry I thought you was a waitress,!! Im surprised I didn't have to cook it myself... won't be going back... So customers if you want to be waited on don't go here.. plenty of pub's in the area with service....the crown.. duck on the pond...buck and bell etc....or eat at the bowler if you want to get your...

Definitely a really good experience at the Bowling Green Pub ..The Decor is bright & modern very welcoming there's a really nice atmosphere with the staff being friendly ....lizzy made use feel welcome & took our orders ..thank you.. The food was a little bit slow in arriving.. But Definitely a worth-while-wait.. Everyone was really pleased with their order & the meals arrived looking very nicely prepared to a good standard.. Thank you chef.. We also enjoyed the desserts menu which is a must to finish of a lovely afternoon with family & friends.. We also took our small little dog she with.us she is very well behaved ...She was made very welcome in the Bar Area which is splint into two parts ..one with 2 TVs which is great fore the footy.. . the other.room separate from the TV Which we much preferred ,separate from TVs... Thank you to the Bowling Green staff .. We will definitely be returning in the nr future...to enjoy your great hospitality
