Won't be coming back. Have had three takeaway Sunday lunches, the first one was fabulous. The second one was shocking, and so we complained and we were given replacement meal which was as good as the first. So, we thought we'd try dining in. Won't be doing that again! Very expensive menu, some of the staff very pleasant, some not so. Service ridiculously slow! 45 minutes to wait for main course, not sure about desert, hasn't arrived yet!! We've only been here for an hour and a half in total so far. Main courses...lamb rump, tasted nice but very very tough. When asked, comment was that it was tough. Response was that it was the worst feedback they'd received! Belly pork alright, aside from miniscule non descript veg. Peas were ordered with one pork and veg with the other, waitress returned to say that the first waitress had taken these additions to our order when she wasn't supposed to! No peas available at all, and veg not allowed!!! Don't even get me started on the "potato and mushroom terrine"! I'd say there was half a mushroom with a maximum of one small sliced roast potato, and indistinguishable vegetable balls. Potato tasted nice, but was hardly meal worthy! Collective score out of 40....18! As for social distancing..... absolutely non existent, especially when it comes to stretching across someone to serve another person's food! Don't waste your money or time here! 1hr 45 in, still no desert! Desert arrived..."alright". All in all very...

This pub is currently an insult to Southam. For the greater part of a year, it has been closed - for a 'refit.' Well that's the longest 'refit' I ever saw for a pub - Old Trafford could be refitted faster ! ๐คฌ
It took just a few short weeks of irregular opening, and not opening at all during the day, before the place was closed once more ... 'refit' again ! Yeh, right ! ๐
On every visit I've made over the last 4-5 years, the place has had this hang-up about serving posh, expensive food. I've not seen the place busy yet. This is an old, almost certainly listed, English pub. It has crooked wooden beams inside and I doubt it's ever heard of a rightangle. The place should be packed - the fire going in winter, the footie on telly, a bit of music ... and things like a Ploughman's Lunch, Scampi & Chips, Chicken in the basket and the like - not poncy food at a ripoff price - which would barely fill up a Jack Russell. ๐ฉ
If and when the place ever reopens, I hope the new Landlord, or Manager, has the common sense to see the pubs style and address its potential - instead of some silly pipe dream about posh food which, in this case, provides just empty seats and the odd person stood at the bar looking lonely. ๐ฉ
It's a gold mine if run...

Not impressed with this pub at all. It needs a deep clean for a start. It's fairly cosy inside - away from the eating area - but when you look around it quickly becomes apparent that a pack of dusters wouldn't go amiss, as well as a dust pan and brush. ๐งน
In addition, the prices are a rip-off. My last pint in there was ยฃ5.90 - and that's not the most expensive pint by any means. I'd expect to pay that in my local - The Morse Bar at The Randolph Hotel in Oxford - the difference being that you get waited on and snacks are provided with your drink. ๐ท
My recent visit to The Crown wasn't very welcoming. The bar counter entrance was filled with about four youths - staff in their little clique - always the unprofessional turn-off. The girl who served me was polite, but very distant and seemingly uninterested in her job as she filled my glass to about half an inch short of full. ๐บ
In addition, a ground level cellar means that the lagers aren't very cold - especially during the warm weather and that really is a turn off, particularly when you're paying through the nose. There's another pub just 50 yards away but I certainly can't recommend that one either. ๐ป
Definitely not a pub which I would...
