Our expectations were realistic before we arrived , these are rooms above a pub not a hotel and that should be considered when booking. |We stayed here for two nights.|Whilst the staff are ‘lovely’ it does not distract from how terrible a stay we had , if it wasn’t for the fact we were attending an event nearby and needed to be in the local vicinity we would have left and gone somewhere else (and we did absolutely check availability elsewhere to see if that was an option) |We paid over £500 for two rooms for two night this price did absolutely not reflect the quality of the stay.|We arrived on the first night to be greeted by Morgan who was nice but warned us that the pub had a dj in that evening , assured us that it would be done and finished by 11pm as that is the time the pub closed. Let’s just say if you had arrived with children or you were looking to go to sleep before midnight you’d have been screwed. The DJ finally stopped at 11.20pm drunk customers shouted and screamed until 11.50 downstairs. |If you want to be a pub fine but if you are going to charge that amount for a room people are going to want to be able to sleep. |Whilst we expected some noise the sound proofing (or lack of it) at this place is absolutely atrocious , there are no doors or barriers to the sound from downstairs and my room had THE biggest gap under the door (could fit my hand under it) which didn’t exactly make me feel like I had much privacy . |You can hear everything from downstairs every single conversation , cue being woken up at 7.30 on the Saturday morning to a conversation about overflowing urinals (delightful).|The carpet is so thin and every single movement below and next door is audible. My room shared a wall with the next rooms bathroom and let me tell you I could hear everything 😬|The rooms themselves were way below par , I had family staying in the pug room where the bath (placed in the room) leaked so a towel was placed in it to stop the noise. The big green arm chair had broken legs .|I stayed in another room at the front my bathroom absolutely reeked of drains (assuming it was the shower as it nearly flooded) the side tables had crumbs from a previous customer and the top of the mini fridge a lovely layer of dust. The shower was also broken the shower head was unable to be set to a suitable height as the sliding mechanism has failed. Upon arrival I had the joy of 5/6 flies within my room probably attracted by the smell of drains . It didn’t exactly help make it feel clean . |The furniture in the rooms are sparse I had two hangers for the dressing gowns provided but no means of hanging up any other items of clothing as they were the only hangers on the rack. |Within the rooms there are coffee machines for which you are provided mugs that don’t fit under them. Only one out of the four mugs between us were actually clean. I know this is an issue previous customers have raised I don’t think the management has any intention of changing or improving things. |As we went downstairs on the Saturday morning we were hit with the stench of stale pub toilet , looking at it in daylight we decided not to eat breakfast here despite having previously paid for it (lucky escape judging by the breakfast reviews) |The parking isn’t great at all there are only 5 spaces available which serve the rooms and the pub one of the spaces was half taken up by the bins . ||Whilst I’ve stayed in many pubs with rooms before I have to say this was by far the worst , it really is not fit for purpose and if you tell clients the pub is going to be shut by 11 so the noise shouldn’t effect you then be shut by 11pm not nearly 12am (did wonder if there was some conflict with...
Read moreA superb and lazy night away.
A super little pub/hotel in the bustling town of Shipston-on-Stour. The Lazy Pug is a great mix of dog-friendly pub with Uber cool London agency in places.
We stayed overnight so had dinner, bed and breakfast which were all fabulous.
The food is what you’d expect from a good quality pub. Steak was perfect and the tapas ‘small plates’ were delicious. The staff were also great with our gluten and dairy-free diets.
The room (we stayed in the Lazy Pug room) was spacious and had a cool roll top bath tub as well as a walk in shower and modern rest room.
The bathroom(s)were shielded by a cool living wall with fairy lights which made the room feel very trendy, yet relaxing.
Parking is limited on site but there’s a huge FREE car park just a 2min walk away (bridge). Wi-Fi is free and works well.
Breakfast was excellent and was served 8:00-11:00.
The mix of locals and stop overs made for a great atmosphere and a nice relaxing night away. Bear in mind that you are staying above a pub so our Friday night wasn’t a silent one but we did sleep well in the comfortable bed.
The surrounding town all adds to an excellent stay. On Saturday morning we shopped in the boutique shops with the locals and picked up flowers, meat and some dog treats!
We feel like we’ve been away from it...
Read moreCustomer service was shocking, food overcooked, half of the menu wasn't available and even though we had booked a table for 5 in advance our table wasn't reserved and when offered one it was for 4 people. New waitress had appalling table manners and didn't know what was or wasn't available and it felt like we were putting her out when we answered yes to her reluctant offer to check with chef if the dish which was on the menu was available. Our table was booked for 6.30pm so it wasn't as if the mains should really not be available. In addition, she knew 5 was seated and the mains I had ordered want available and rather than asking me if I would like to choose an alternative main, she barked "do you want anything else or is that it, after repeating this seconds later I had to reply shortly to say, "yes there are 5 of us here who all need a main course, please wait and give me a few minutes for me to decide". She then stormed off and I spoke to a member of ataff about their staff's lack of acceptable customer service. We'd never eat there again, drink yes, but that's as...
