Dog mess all over the garden from the pub dogs. Made them aware and was ignored. Not a problem, save for our two young children that were running around the garden needing to watch out for dog mess. Wasn’t even so busy with the bar that they couldn’t clean it up. Warm drinks, no ice, generally grubby. Been before, ale was so bad we left. Great view, nice people, rank pub. Won’t be back.

In answer to your response:

Tripadvisor’s award and my experience at your pub are two totally separate events, I don’t understand how you feel that award makes my review inaccurate?

  1. accepted it may not be your dogs that fouled all over the garden, your barman suggested it was yours when I raised it with him, hence the feedback.

  2. yep, there was one on the bar but there wasn’t a queue and more staff arrived mid-way through our visit. I have dogs, picking up the mess takes less than a minute.

  3. the ale was off on the previous visit, I didn’t raise it with you as you were busy that night and it didn’t feel reasonable to write off the pub on one bad pint. Hence the return trip.

  4. we had two gins and two spritzers, both were warm. Raised it at the time, barman said he couldn’t do anything about it. Perhaps you could have collected ice from the local shop on the way back from the dog groomer? That’s your choice as a business owner, my role as the customer is to give you feedback. The other drinks in the two rounds were lager, both were good.

  5. the barman didn’t ask if everything was OK as we left, if he had, I’d have politely reminded him about the dog mess and warm drinks.

Rather than trying to make out that we’re the snide customers that go home and write passive aggressive reviews without raising our issues at the time and giving you chance to rectify them, can I constructively suggest that you accept the feedback and use it to improve your...

One of my besties and our 2 daughters enjoyed a leisurely Saturday cooked breakfast 2 weeks ago, having seen recommendations on FB. We were first through the door as soon as it opened and there were others waiting in their cars too, a good sign. We were given a friendly warm welcome by the staff young lady, which is always nice first thing in the morning.

My friend and her daughter hadn't been before, despite them being lifelong Stroud residents so it was fun to show them this 'new' dining treat and the views.

My daughter and I have had delicious lunches here in the past, and as I couldn't eat it all the staff kindly wrapped it up for me...

No choice of food for kids on a Sunday, have a slide but the pub itself is not child friendly. My 2 year old ended up with a baguette because they had no sausages or chicken nuggets or anything that a child can eat. Only Sunday roast avaliable on Sunday with rare beef. Not everybody likes rare, or pork. The veg was nice, Yorkshire was over cooked, only some of us had crackling, there was more choice of desserts than food which was nice only 2 tables in the room so everyone can hear each others conversation. It's not how I rember it before I'm sure the room was bigger and more menu choice. But its definitely not...

A real community pub with something for the local community on most mornings. We were staying locally and called in the evening for a bite to eat. Not a very extensive menu but enough to satisfy the hungry traveller and all well cooked and delicious. The place on a wet Tuesday night was empty but the staff found the time to come and chat with us to make us feel welcome. I must add the beer garden, with the best views of Stroud and beyond. We couldn't take advantage of it due to the weather. A gem of a proper pub and restaurant and well worth seeking out.

We called the venue and at short notice went to eat at the venue. The pub is up a small access lane and the staff were absolutely excellent from entering the premises to serving our meals nothing was too much trouble. Georgie, Minnie and Molly thank you for your excellent food it was a pleasure to consume. The views out the window are spectacular. If you are looking for a local pub to sit down and eat try this venue. Worth a visit midweek as quieter and the lounge area a nice country kitchen look.

Pure delight. Immaculate vibe, craft cider, banging Sunday roast, quite possibly the best cauli cheese I’ve had and I’m not saying this lightly. And just look at this perfect table! With all that said, an even bigger highlight for us was the staff—fantastic people and service. No faults. It’s in the middle of a scenic circular walk, make your way there ❤️
