From entering the door you wait to be greeted and told where to sit. Maybe best to book in advance we went at a peak time. We were given a square device that lights up red circle and vibrates when they have found you a table. Very good idea but if your getting a calvary you then have to queue at the till and pay for food and then queue again for Calvary. I think as a better option to save time is once your taken to the table they ask if you want Calvary and pay either after the meal or pay while at the table with contactless payment etc and given receipt to go collect food. This can save time and people can just go for food and drinks can be brought to the table so you don't have to collect drink from the bar after the queue at the till to take drink to table and then queue again for food. Just time consuming and not good if your disabled to track back and forth. Just an option. Food was given 4⭐because everything was lovely accept twice I've been and the vegetables are partially cooked. I think it's down to preferences maybe but for me the fork should slide through without much pressure to say vegetables are cooked. The carrots are cut very thick if they cook a bit thinner this would cook them faster and they be softer and not crunchy. Everything was hot though just vegetable preferences is all. I noticed you can order non Calvary food here and that is served to your table. You can also take food away if you prefere which is a good option. If you prefere take home as a example. Staff are very polite and respectful and they ask if you have any allergies and they do everything they can to adapt to your diet and allergy intolerances. You can also sit outside if you wish and there is tables outside. It's wheelchair access and wide enough to get around Calvary if you need to. Definitely will come again but will skip the vegetables unless I can ask for fresh vegetables to my taste then I be very pleased. Also if anyone like a game and to win something you get to spin the big wheel at the entrance for your reviews. I like that idea Looking forward to my next meal here. Ooh and by the way chefs in kitchen thanks for the hard work into what you do especially in hot days like these. Keep up with your standards it's why I be returning for more. I appretiate all other staff to as the politeness and happy faces is what we like to be greeted with as a customer even in busy times. Makes the difference to the whole...
Read moreWe have used the Oak Tree Farm many times and will continue to do so, however today's visit certainly wasn't the best, obviously due to cost one of the regular meats (roast pork) was not available during the week, also the brocoli was over cooked mushy and cold as was most of the meal. Due to a time constraint we just got on and made do with our lot. This really should not have been an issue because they were really busy today, but there is a possibility that due to the amount of families with children many may have been ordering from the menu and not using the carvery. Edit: 26/10/2024. Visited today for the first time in a while, definitely not the best visit, there was a children's halloween party being held in the family area with a DJ, the children seemed to be well behaved and looked after, however the DJ obviously couldn't be bothered that the rest of the pub/restaurant was open to the general public, it was obvious that he had been asked to keep the system turned down to a reasonable level a number of times. But he insisted on keep creeping up the volume, which made it hard to have a normal conversation at the opposite end of the building. We ate from the menu today rather than having the carvery, my steak and ale pie was really good and hot, which is more than can be said for the accompanying mash and vegetables, they were lukewarm at best. The commanding officer plumpted for the mixed grill which most of was very good, all of it was hot when served, however the 4 ounce steak was 2 ounces of meat and 2 ounces of fat and gristle, which...
Read moreI booked a table here for 11 diners. They advised me on the phone that as we were a large party we could only dine before 12pm or after 4pm so I went with the 4pm. We all arrived promptly and still had to wait so we’re handed the flashy device for when our table was ready. We soon discovered when going to the bar for drinks that they couldn’t serve us any carbonated soft drinks due to a technical issue, therefore had no choice but to purchase over inflated bottled soft drinks which also they soon ran out of! We got shown to our table everyone chose their meals and went to the bar to order. At this point we were told sorry you can’t order carvery! (On a Sunday) it’s off for 20 minutes you can come back once it’s on to order! So we ordered the 7 meals waited 20 minutes and returned to queue at the bar again to order carvery for 4 people. To be honest we all wished we hadn’t bothered because the vegetables were still really hard, the mashed potato was lumpy, the gravy was very runny and the beef was really tough also. They didn’t provide enough cutlery for the table and the waitress started clearing the table while some of us were still eating! I wasn’t going to bother with a review until I saw the state of the water bowl left for dogs outside. What a disgrace. God knows when they last washed it out as you can see from the picture. Needless to say we definitely won’t be returning here! Over priced, poor quality and...
