Palanquin Indian Restaurant — Restaurant in Sunderland

Right we are regulars at eating in at this restaurant and decided to book well in advance for New year's Eve which wasn't a problem but on arrival at the restaurant we were presented with a menu for that evening only for £35 per person without drinks and didn't recognise a single meal. Normally wouldn't have an issue but the year previously there wasn't a new year's menu and you could pick from the normal menu at half the price. I feel that they were just cashing in on the evening but have to say last it was bursting at the seems but there was literally one table of people eating. In our opinion they have cashed in instead of looking after your regulars and now feel aggrieved to go back....

Gone back so far was without the best indians ever. Tandoori mixed grill used to be 6 pieces of chicken, 6 pieces of lamb, nice large prawn, 1 piece of lovely tandoori chicken, 1 kofteh, now 2 pieces of chicken, 2 pieces of lamb, OK prawn, substandard tandoori chicken, 1 kofteh. I know the cost of lining has gone up but so has their prices so I pay £3 more for a third of the takeaway. I also had a plain karahi which was like gravy with onions, no spice whatsoever. Food was below average. Service was ok as only phone call and delivery. Very little chicken in tikka rogan, spicy chips were frozen chips. £28.50 for meal and utterly disappointed. Have been here before for sit down meal and really enjoyed it. Rivaaj was better until I got food poisoning, tried bhaji and first one was good, lastbone was poor palanquin was really bad.
