Lovely spot to sit next to the river on the cycling/walking routes, and the owner of this little tea trailer is very friendly. The coffee was fine and the cakes look nice, although my toastie was a bit basic. There is only a grubby portaloo for a toilet, so if that's a problem you'll need to go to the nearby pub and ask nicely. The cafe is open every day from 10am except Mondays (open Monday in school holidays).

A lovely quirky place to visit. Ideal with young children as there's is a little park area and access to chickens and horses (to stroke). All outdoor seating with great views of the river. Coffee didnt have much taste but the cinnamon swirls were very tasty. Well worth a visit.

Lovely quaint place with beautiful views of the river Wear. Nice place to spot the swans, ducks and other wildlife. It's table service so pick a table and the waitress will come and take your order. I recommend the little Brownies which are delicious. 😋

We didn't know this little place existed but I'm very glad we found it! We'd been walking our Airedale at Fetch and Stretch with friends having walked over from the top end of Barmston. Husband suggested a cuppa on way back, Oddfellows was closed, New Plough open. Nice to see they're dog friendly, nearest place like that also a regular to us is the K9 Cafe in Concord opposite the vet, also beside the dog groomers. The owner of the K9 had been in our crowd, I think these girls are around the same quality - definitely worth the money. Nice little place for an afternoon stroll with our dog, call in there once over river for refreshments before starting trip back. I think it was about 1-1hr 30mins for us. Definitely glad we found it! Congrats to the owners for...

Thought we'd pay the New Plough a visit after following on Facebook for ages. Nicely placed overlooking the river so it's quite calm and lovely in nice weather. Plenty of seats and on 1st impressions thought it was going to be great. But i was wrong. The the latte wasn't very tasty, the cinnamon swirl was 3 small bite size ones with no icing on that was just like eating uncooked pastry. The cheese and onion sandwich was the worst though. A thin spread of sandwich filler that only just covered the middle of the bread with 3 crisps on the side. Most of it was left. Cant say I'll be back as theres other similar places I've been to that a so much...

Great place for a leisurely beverage / snack. Well located right on the riverbank, though quite well tucked away from the crowds (though I can easily see that this place is likely to be the reason being a major increase in footfall at Cox Green!) Good outdoor seating, plenty of space, and table-only surface that was quick, efficient and friendly despite being quite busy. River View is a big bonus, though more picturesque as the water levels rise with the tide. Car parking is usually easy enough, maybe 100m away, and the venue DOES...
