Food is very good as usual so if you want to eat Real Italian food you will not be disappointed. We used to go two/three times a year but today it was our last time.
Service is nothing special: the Italian guy is ok and professional, the lady instead would néed some training to increase her standards. But that was not the reason why we will not go there anymore.
Once at the till to pay for the bill I asked the owner to remove the 10%service charge that he put in the bill without asking. He reacted badly and showing he was annoyed by the request he started to argue in a kind of arrogant and agrressive way asking why: so I asked him if it was optional or mandatory as in the receipt it was clearly specified that it was optional. He obviously did not reply to my question, but simply said that in other places they charge also 20% and that it was for the workers. I simply replied that my 90£bill was enough and as that was optional, my option was not to pay for the tip. I did not say all that I thought as it was pointless with that kind of person but I believe it is worth for other customers to know that: he can think I am pathetic because I did not want to pay an additional 9£, but as owner of a business he should simply think it and do what asked without trying to be intimidating and showing he was annoyed by the request he should also think twice before judging/challenging someone because he does not know the reasons behind a choice. However everyone should be free to do what feels more comfortable.
They will definitely survive also without my money, but the nasty attitude needs to be highlighted so everyone can decide if they want to support this kind of business.
Last but not least they did not have highchairs for baby/toddlers. In more than 30 years of business they never bothered to buy few highchairs so small kids have to eat in the pram. Not amazing considering how important is eating all together around a table for Italians. That tells a lot about the style of these people. People to which I do not want to give my...
Read moreHave been here 3 times and unfortunately regret giving it a go for the 3rd time. The menu is very limited and there is nothing special about specials other than its high price. The food and experience are equally underwhelming. The food is of a school canteen quality and is simply tasteless. Pizza probably is the safest bet, but nothing special. Crab Ravioli with prawn sauce were not far from what I would imagine tin ravioli would be. Sauce is too creamy and plain, crab is a complete mush and prawns were actually the tiniest wild brown shrimps size of a pea. Salmon tagilatelle had same creamy tomato sauce as ravioli and salmon nowhere to be found, pureed and disintegrated into the pasta. Desserts were mediocre and didnt have that homemade quality expected of italian fresh desserts. The staff were pleasant, however did not come to check if the food was ok. It gets busy, so people must be finding something on the menu that works for them, however I will not...
Read moreWe came as a group of 16 for a family birthday. The food was really authentic, and tasted very nice. The ingredients looked very fresh and high quality. We had to bring our own high chair which was a bit surprising. The staff went out of their way buying in vegan ingredients for one of our party as they don’t normally cater for that diet. They were also flexible with menu items, such as adding spaghetti to the saltimbocca. And we brought our own cake which they cut for us for our dessert. They presented it really nicely, which we appreciated as it wasn’t something they were charging us for. They closed at 2pm but did not rush us at all and we stayed much later. There wasn’t a children’s menu so some of the portions were very big for our party, perhaps that is something they might consider in the future or offering half portions of food? I would recommend...
