This is first time I’ve ever left a review but I feel like I need to. I ordered sweet and sour chicken with rice and salt and pepper chicken wings. I’m so disappointed! I was having a really really bad time so I treated myself to my favourite takeaway (Chinese- Hong Kong style). When I got home I opened it up and it looked and smelled really bizarre. I can only describe it as fizzling in a chemical way. The sauce was like water and literally had 5 pieces of radioactive fizzy chicken swimming about in a load of oil. I couldn’t even bring myself to eat it because of the strong chemical smell. It smelled like industrial cleaning solvent. I’m absolutely gutted as I was really looking forward to it. Also it was extremely expensive!! I could have ordered from Wagamama for less. I reluctantly paid because I thought well it might be amazing. I’m gutted. Might as well of put the money in the bin. I wasn’t even in Ashton, I traveled in specifically because of the good reviews....
Read moreBeen there a few times, disappointed is the theme of most visits. Order scallion oil chicken on my first visit, it smelled so good but the chicken was marinated with spices that did not match. Scallion oil was in good portion to accompany the rice. Also ordered satay beef noodles, it was okay. The satay vermicelli was too watery and too milky and blend, did not like it one bit. I decided to give the scallion oil chicken rice another chance recently, and I was very disappointed. To be honest, the quality wasn’t great to start with, and now further declined. By comparison to my previous visit, the portion was reduced, scallion oil barely existed, they didn’t physically present much. It was like 1/10 of the original portion. Scallion oil is the soul of scallion oil chicken, and the scallion not existing means the whole dish wasn’t complete. Chicken wasn’t marinated with weird spices but was very blend this time. Rice was in bad texture. I don’t think I will...
