Very dissapointed, we came for Christmas Day, all tables were crammed together so we could hardly move, the starters came after a long wait, we were missing some and the soup was just tinned soup heated up, we then waited an hour and a half from our starters to our main course. It took 20 minutes for them to serve it all as they had forgotten half of our people’s foods and everytime they came back they had forgotten something else. Two of our turkey dinners had no potato on it. Turkey dinner was disgusting, turkey was thick and dry, potatoes were mushy and very salty, nobody ate theirs, the Indian dishes were ok when we all finally had our food although some were on the cold side. We asked for desserts not long after as we just wanted to get out of there and didn’t want to be sat round another 2 hours. Well… the cheese and crackers, some had no grapes and the cheese had clearly been sat on the side as it was all rock hard and like rubber. The crackers were dry and had no butter, the Christmas pudding with custard was awful and so was the ice cream. Nobody ate their desserts. The atmosphere wasn’t the best, the air conditioning was broken so we were boiling, there was people everywhere and we were all crammed in so couldn’t move, the music was extremely loud so you couldn’t hear each other. We had 3 children with us who had their hands over their ears the whole time because of the noise. We were sat eating and staff were hoovering up around us and one kept getting elbowed in the head by staff walking past. The staff were just strolling around. We could hear other tables complaining that their was food missing. Clearly this restaurant overbooked. I don’t even want to say the price paid for 13 of us for Christmas dinner, but I can tell you it was not worth a penny, 3 of the family left early because of it all. It was so stressful that it would have been less stress, and far cheaper to cook a Christmas dinner at home for everyone. We will never be stepping foot in this place again. Made Christmas so stressful and...
Read moreI ordered food for delivery today, it's been a while but good food on the taste buds are best enjoyed after abstance.
Good food, one of best restaurants in Ashton under lyne. Purple Olive best place to eat in quality food at affordable price. Not many good restaurants around, with compromise quality of price elsewhere.
Food was delivered war ready to eat. Fast delivery than time estimated through the restaurants online order portal. No hidden charges upon checkout on the website, clear and concise breakdown of the meals and items ordered. Highly recommend.
The driver was very friendly and cheerful and smiled whilst handy over the order. It's always warming when you order from Purple Olive and the driver shows gratitude. I also thank the driver and smiked back out of politeness.
Can't wait to dine in as it has been a while.
Purple Olive have a huge tree in the restaurant that gives off a nostalgic feeling. A relaxing place to eat at. Friends, family with or without kids.
The atmosphere isn't overrated but rather calm simple and very welcoming and also a feeling of staying not rushing to leave.
The staff are always very friendly and offer top notch customer services.
The car park has space as well as free street parking always beware of the double yellow line...
Read moreFirst time here and the first impression was it looks lovely. But it took 45 mins to bring the starters. Onion bhajis were nice but took too long to arrive. It then took another 40 minutes for the mains to arrive. Our waiter had been working there 2 weeks and recommended sharing the rice as the portions were huge. When the rice came the portion was an average portion for a restaurant so we had to order another. Plates weren't cleared away in a timely manner. Service was slow. If you want a drink bring your own as even a glass of water took over an hour. When drinks did arrive they were wrong. It was very disappointing. Lots of takeaways were being taken out so it seems takeaways took priority over eat in customers. I would try again (as I like to try things twice) but mid week. I wouldn't go on a weekend. More staff are needed. They need more staff in the kitchen, more waiters, dedicated bar staff and staff to clear up and then I think it...
