The staff are great and are doing the best with what they have. There was barely anyone in the restaurant seating area when we arrived which we thought was odd for a Sunday afternoon at 2pm. We came for the Sunday roast and the food was just horrendous. We all ordered a variety of chicken, beef and “pork belly”. All of the meat was dry, the ‘pork belly’ was slices of some sort of pork and not pork belly what so ever. The beef was dry and looked completely over cooked. The roast potatoes were not fresh, they were definitely cooked from frozen like aunt bessies! All the veg was cold and nothing on my plate looked fresh and we were given the most pathetic jug of gravy! The restaurant needs to invest in fresh vegetables! I don’t blame the staff who work in the restaurant, they can only do so much with such a terrible quality of food to work with. The staff didn’t make us pay for the roast dinners and removed them from the bill, and were very apologetic but they shouldn’t have to be apologising for the quality of the food. They’re under pressure to try to do a good job when the food they’re being forced to serve up is of such poor standards. We all felt sorry for the manager and our waiter... it must be so embarrassing to serve people such awful food and try to stand by the restaurant. Something needs to change (going by previous reviews also). The manager did everything to correct the situation and the staff are really nice but unfortunately we wouldn’t...

I cannot commend Anja and her team highly enough! I cannot believe they were actually short staffed; you'd never have known! Anja is so bright, bubbly, warm and friendly, that I was sold on the place immediately! She'd helped me on the phone when I originally made my booking, as I needed help with the menu, because I'm vegan. She was so helpful in explaining my options. I'd not been here since the refurb 5yrs ago and what an amazing transformation. I believe Anja's warm personality, coupled with her efficiency and high standard of customer service, is truly reflected in the performance of her staff. They were simply amazing! I found them all highly efficient, knowledgeable, well groomed, delivering fast service and all done with warmth and big smiles! The food is amazing value for money and was cooked to perfection; especially the vegetables - perfect! It also arrived at the table lovely and hot. I'm very fussy with my food and I have to say how impressed I was with the quality of it all.......Thank you so much to the chef; to the waiting staff with their impeccable service and to Anja; all of whom clearly take pride in what they offer to the customer and are truly a great credit to the company!!! My Mum & I had a thoroughly enjoyable experience today and I've already started recommending the establishment to friends! Thanks again guys and can't wait to visit again soon. Best wishes to Anja...

I've not been here for a meal since it was the Lady Bird. We thought we would go as a treat to have a quick meal, rather than cooking a roast at home, to see off the Christmas holidays with our young kids.

We will never be going back.

I have never complained in a restaurant before, I'm just not that way inclined, I'd rather just leave and never return. But this was truly awful and for no good reason.

There were three waiting staff and only four tables eating. So you would expect exceptional service. We recieved the opposite, drinks took 30 minutes to arrive, we got our food an hour after we entered. I had to chase up the mains, which were diabolical. The gravy was flavoured hot water, the potatoes were under done, the meat was like leather and the frozen veg was student halls quality.

We left before having dessert, even though we had already paid for it, because it was getting late and we wanted to spend some time playing with the kids before they went to bed.

In hindsight we could have cooked a roast at home in the time it took to get served here and had far superior food, for a fraction of the price.

Anyway I'm not angry, I'm just disappointed, who could be proud of the food, service or standards that were delivered this evening?

We will never be going back and I hope that this review saves someone else from wasting precious time and money in this...

We decided to go for the Sunday Roast, as first time visitors who have recently moved to the area. Staff were friendly and welcoming, we sat outside which was lovely as the sun was out. The roast itself was nice, the braised red cabbage and Yorkshire puddings were 10/10, the beef itself wasn't pink at all so for us personally - overcooked. Potatoes weren't crispy, and the parsnips and carrots were slightly bland. It would've been better to have the gravy in a small pot to pour yourself. My partner opted for the apple and cherry crumble, he said it was ok, the crumble itself wasn't crispy and quite dry. This wouldn't have stopped us from returning again, until we used the toilet facilities. They smelled appalling! As bad as the public toilets at a train station, which was quite shocking for a pub, people walking in/out kept commenting on the foul smell so it definitely didn't go unnoticed.

Took some visiting friends here. Venue was very busy when we arrived. 5 people serving at the bar, one of whom called "be with you in a minute" but it was about a ten minute wait before we were seated. Drinks were slow to arrive and food was ordered but it was nearly an hour before it arrived. Fish and chips looked and tasted good and portions were generous. Chicken burger served instead of standard burger but long wait put us off waiting for replacement so that was eaten. Waitress offered to take it off the bill which was appreciated. Long wait for second round of drinks. Wait times put us off having dessert. Staff friendly but other guests also heard complaining about wait times. Were able to use voucher which saved money off the bill, would have felt expensive without it. Definitely needs to do something about delay between ordering food and receiving it.

Family lunch. Staff were really friendly and helpful, when were arrived we chose a table in the bar area as we had a small dog with us (always well behaved). We had 4 main courses which we didnt really have to wait long for. The service was great and the food was amazing. For around £53 with a couple of pints it was really good value the portions were huge. There is also an outside seating area with umbrellas overlooking the cricket green but it was rainIng heavily today so we sat inside. I would recommend you visit, we will definately be back soon. Well done to all the staff at Fleeting Brook!
