Visited yesterday for dinner with my neighbour. ..I had the 2 chicken skewers with beer bbq sauce. .comes with a choice of 2 sides ....great I thought for 7.99 But how wrong I was ...The jacket potato was tiny and the bbq beans were in a tiny pot ..I was very disappointed. .It all tasted lovely but my friend ordered a starter as a main and a side of chips with a side of coleslaw. ..Her meal was massive for £6 . Although the coleslaw tasted rank ..Think it had salad cream in it ? Think they need to say on the chicken scewers it's 2 mini sides ..Then for pud we had the kids tresure chest brownie £1.29. Looked brilliant. ..lovely hot chocolate sauce. ..but it was dry ..need more sauce so you could eat it with out choking. .I drank the other half of my diet coke while trying to swallow it ...then the cold coin on top ...well I was really excited about this ..my friends one was all white speckles on the chocolate ( meaning it was old and uneatable ) so I shared mine but ended up spitting into a napkin as it was horrible. ...Again I was disappointed. .. The service was ok ...no one greeted us or asked where we would like to sit ...tables were still waiting to be cleared so made it hard to find somewhere to sit ..food wait was ok ..About 20 mins ...pudding wait was 30 mins Staff were ok ...no one asked if everything was ok with our meal ... but they did their best to serve us quickly at the bar and were friendly. Personally would of like to of seen a bit more customer service. ..ie ' Hello ..Have you been here before? This is how it works kind of conversation. .. But I did enjoy what food I had as my main and the price is cheep ...not saying I expected 5* service. ..but a bit would of been nice ..I would go back ...as the table next to us ordered a meat combo looking thing with ribs and pulled pork ect ...It looks fabulous! And it's very local to me .. Oh forgot to mention the awful plate my dinner was served on ....was a 1930s hospital equipment operating tray .. enamelled white with a blue trim (new I hope) I really didn't like that ...I know this chabby chic thing is all the rage but it looked so wrong ...put me off a little if I'm honest. .Would rather not see my...
Read morePoor service, poor hygiene We were told to sit anywhere we wanted so we sat down and looked through the menu. After 10 minutes we was asked if we wanted drinks. 25 minutes after the drinks arrived, we had to call the guy over to ask if we could order food, and he then sent over a female server, bearing in mind the restaurant was at about 20% capacity, and she was just standing around staring into space. The food took a good 30 minutes to come out and when it did, it all seemed nice and we was glad we had come back after 1 previous visit. The good times changed when my partner tipped his curry out of the bowl and there was thick black long hair in it. his eye lashes is the longest hairs on his head so we knew it was not from him. He called the waiter over from the other side of the restaurant to bring this to his attention, only for the waiter to see 3 women and decided to blank us and walk straight over to them. This riled my partner to stand up and call the bloke over and not to be so rude. He came over, picked the plate up and walked off with no apology or explanation. Another lady on a table opposite had to ask several times for the wine she had ordered. At this point we decided to get up and walk out. In hindsight we saw a guy the previous week return his food twice and thought they were just being picky, but this restaurant needs to go back to basic hygiene courses and learn some manners when it comes to customers. We jumped back in the car and found a Indian restaurant in east Grinstead town center, which provided a nice service, great hairless food and we gave them a well-deserved tip. I have given this a 1-star review as that’s the lowest we can...
Read moreI have been to Peacock lodge a few times and been generally happy. I was very disappointed this evening however. Having booked a table for six, including my two young granddaughters, for 6.30pm, two of us, i admit arrived half an hour late, we waited until about 8:30 before any food was actually served. We had ordered two starters, only one of which arrived. I asked about the second one which seemingly had been forgotten somewhere along the line. A further ten minutes or so elapsed and it did finally arrive. I asked if things could be speeded up a bit for the main course as the two little girls were getting increasingly restless and hungry. Our main courses did indeed turn up pretty quickly. Unfortunately, the food that arrived was overcooked, dry and rather tasteless. All in all I am a very disappointed customer. £100 odd, not, under the circumstances in any way money well spent As for the waiting staff, who have to bare the brunt of complaints and criticism from customers, most seemed intent on finding excuses such as the fact that they were dealing with a big wedding, or the fact that some of our group had arrived late. I feel an apology might have bee a mre appropriate response. Having said that, when I went to pay the bill, I did receive an admission that things were not as they should have been and a sincere apology, which I appreciate. I would appreciate it even more if my £100 was reimbursed! All in all I am not a particularly...
