Arrived around 1pm to enjoy a cream tea and whilst waiting to see.of I might get a table one of the staff said she would '...place some reserved holders....' on several of the table so it really wasn't looking good for me. Having asked whether I might have a table I was told they were '...very busy...' - they certainly didn't appear to be and that I could have a table but '..there would be a wait...' which wasn't really an issue as I had.no plans and asked the woman if she could.give me a general idea of how long I might be waiting - a fair question I thought given that all they had to do was put some hot water in a pot and give me a scone with some jam and some cream - the woman could not answer and I thought she was about to burst into tears so I opted to go elsewhere which was a shame as id come...
Read moreI came here with my family quite spontaneously before attending the ancient Ashburton Bread Weighing and Ale Tasting Ceremony. We sat in the garden, sharing and enjoying a variety of teas. Shortly after, the gentle and friendly waitresses brought out our cakes. I was treated to the creamiest and most delicious chocolate tart I have ever eaten. We knew that the tea room had changed owners and had heard amazing reviews so we decided to try it. The tearoom was beautifully decorated, it was very warm and welcoming. The service was amazing and the scones we ordered were incredible, they were freshly baked. The jam and cream were delicious as was the tea, with non dairy options available.
