Visited in October for a carvery lunch after recommendations from friends and we weren't disappointed. Situated just off the A380, the Ten Tors is a large pub and restaurant serving St Austell and Dartmoor breweries ales. The welcome and attentive service was first class with plenty of available staff who checked if all was OK and answered questions about the Christmas menu. The lunchtime carvery was good with, served meats and help yourself vegetables, potatoes and yorkie puds. It's boasts a large dining area with decorated furniture and two fireplaces. What impressed us both was the hand sanitiser at each table and the plastic gloves provided for use with the carvery spoons. Good covid-19 controls were evident all around including the toilets which were clean and well managed. Dessert was excellent although limited and there is an extensive car park and play area which was open for entertaining the kids, we plan to return again soon. Thanks for a pleasant experience!

WOW !! Been going elsewhere for a carvery which we love, but just wanted to try somewhere different this weekend. Lamb, real roast potatoes and so many different vegetables what a treat to have that. I love veg so literally piled it on my plate as I was giddy with excitement. To say the carvery was amazing is an understatement, it was delicious, everything on my plate was delicious, 10/10 for me and cannot wait to go again. The staff were amazing, very hands on, the place itself was clean with a lovely decoration. The Sunday carvery is £14.95 but don't let that put you off because it is well worth that, the choice of meats and vegetables are outstanding and you get Yorkshire pudding, stuffing balls and mini sausages, the gravy is also superb. My photos don't do it justice, I was greedy and piled it on 😊

I am actually a Celebrant and I conduct services for weddings, funerals, memorials, namings…you get the idea. I work in many local venues - I had the privilege of officiating a Celebration of Life here this last Saturday. It was such a positive experience, not least because the staff I met - Karen and Jimmy - were exceptionally welcoming, professional and particularly supportive of me; I had to bring in some tech equipment to ensure we could have audio visual tributes and they moved tables and assisted in setting up, despite being so busy with regular custom and then preparing the food for the ‘wake’ - this was also exceptional for the large gathering! I can’t recommend them highly enough for such a rite of passage private hire event!

Best carvery I have had in a long time...reasonable price for a Sunday carvery with a massive choice of vegetables which I have never seen at other carverys. ..pork crackling too.....also provided a meal for our dog made up of a baguette...stuffed full of lamb and beef....cannot fault this Inn. ...and we will be back regularly. Update: returned for a carvery Sunday 10th July 2022 - taking a terminally ill friend out for a treat as he had never been here...he ate and enjoyed a hearty meal which is great - the down side was the fact that staff clearing the table as we left made comments about the fact that drink had been spilled on the menu sheets and ruined them, firstly I wouldn't mind if it had been us who had spilt the drinks when in fact it was the gentleman who brought them over...he got the drinks in wrong order and in swapping 2 of them to the correct customers he dropped drink onto the menus...secondly if you want menus to be impervious I would suggest you laminate them rather than just print them out onto plain a4 paper. When we arrived to our table the menus were actually on the floor of the orangery area and I was on crutches so I couldn't pick them up and the staff member showing us to our table either didn't notice them or couldn't be bothered to pick them up so whilst complaining about wet menus I wonder how you would have reacted to menus with footprints on them. Luckily my terminal friend was using the bathroom facilities at the time you made your "comments" but perhaps next time make sure all customers are out of earshot ! Update Sunday 4th September our ill friend wanted to return for another carvery.....today was much better, very busy and the Leek Cheese was the BEST I have ever had in my life, hats off to the young lad...

Service of booking a large group was great, they agreed they could accommodate a large group split us between two tables, not accommodated on this front, there was enough tables and space in the area we sat to have accommodated us properly so this was a little disappointing . Service on booking was warm and friendly, we had to pre order which was fine and had pre agreed a time, half an hour past the agreed time we had to go to the bar and enquire when the food would start as no one had checked in with us after we had notified them of our arrival.

Lots of complaints amongst the group, southern fried chicken was inedible due to saltiness, all round same complaint about the chips being soft and dry, the carvery meat salad had the identical amount of salad to the side salads on fellow guests meals.

We were in and out to the play area while people finished their meals and our tables kept getting cleared of drinks despite them being exactly that DRINKS!!

Now. When it came to the bill, lots of errors and overcharging, this is when we confronted the staff to have it detailed to sort out, he returned with duplicated receipts which mostly matched people's bank statements except one, one receipt didn't match a bank statement and was significantly less than what had been charged, at this point we were all tired and couldn't be bothered to return to the bar to sort out as we've travelled from all across the country for this meet up.

Deserts were disappointing, although I couldn't personally fault the cherry pie, I thought it was wonderful!!

The outside area is beautiful and enclosed, a lovely area to have spent an afternoon following 3 courses!

Parking is plentiful and the atmosphere inside this restaurant...

First visit to Ten Tors Inn and already decided we will return. Booked a last minute table for Sunday lunch for 3, we arrived on time and were greeted with a smile and seated promptly. Our server was over quickly to take drinks order and upon return we ordered three carvery's and a side dish. We were advised we'll be told when to go up for the carvery so as to avoid a large queue and so that we would be getting our carvery's as the same time as the side dish was ready.

The food was excellent, the carvery meat had a great selection available and all well cook. The highlight though was how fresh and well cooked the trimmings were, often at carvery's these can be overcooked and mushy after being under heat lamps too long, but not here. They are obviously rotated often with only small portions put out for service, this ensures your plate of food is fresh, well cooked and really is one of the best carvery's I've been too.

On top of this, all staff were very pleasant and smiling, our server was highly attentive and again service with a smile. I noticed that the staff also went round and opened / closed windows as the temperature changed, this seemed to be done almost automatically rather than customers needing to ask. Lovely to see and receive such good customer service.

Lastly, the restaurant did not feel overcrowded, I think they could have taken more bookings (and I know they were busy as they slotted us in last minute), but glad they didn't as it left for a pleasant experience and not feeling like we were at a crowded bus stop.

Overall, 5/5 for experience, food and service. A very popular place locally it would seem and will definitely...
