If you ever wondered why the star system of Michelin was in place, it is to indicate what kind of restaurants are worth the roadtrip.
This Pub run by a lovely family is very good, me and my family visited the establishment in the picturesque town of Moretonhampstead on a Friday afternoon and where pleasantly surprised from the first get go. The pub is alive and not super loud without music blasting out of the speakers. The design inside made me feel very welcome and the fact that they had a very local gin on the backbar even more. The menu for lunch was really good devided and very well priced. I choose the Rueben sandwich due to a past experience I encountered with one in Katz Deli New York. From the home smoked pastrami to the pleasantly sauerkraut and the crispy bread this was a sure winner and a defining reason for me to make that journey back to this lovely pub in the hills of Dartmoor. Thank you for the lovely service and the best Rueben I ate outside of...
Read moreMy partner and I had a wonderful stay here. After a series of small beds in other accommodations during our South England trip, this was a breath of fresh air—a beautiful, large and comfortable bed in an equally lovely room. Very spacious, tastefully decorated, and well-equipped: coffee, tea, kettle, coffeemaker, hairdryer, TV with casting option—everything you need is there. The bathroom was very spacious with a delightful shower and everything was clean and atmospheric. The service provided by Malene and her husband was fantastic; a beautiful breakfast was served with fresh fruit, fruit juice, an egg dish, and delicious coffee. The location is perfect; just around the corner is an affordable parking lot, and the village is a lovely base to explore beautiful nearby places. There’s a Coop directly opposite The Horse, which is open until 10:00 PM. This was without a doubt our number one out of the six places we stayed at...

There are two areas, a cosy old fashioned pub and a more modern restaurant. We picked the restaurant but I can well imagine a nice winters evening in the bar! Staff were friendly and attentive, starters were exceptional. Steak was mildly overdone (we ordered medium rate) but still tasty. The pizzas and desserts looked amazing going past, we were just too full. We’re likely to be back...
