This pub was open on a sunny day in April. New lad Casey conducted table service, was prompt, polite and efficient in getting us beers and crisps. Though they're not offering a full service at present it was a good start to the new-normal and we'll definitely be back again. Thank you and good luck.

Stayed as headlining the local festival. Lovely room, great shower, friendly staff and owner and great band Saturday night( Grounds for Divorce). Recommended. (Pop to the Lido for a dip too!)

The pub seemed nice but was not impressed by the b&b they run. It seemed nice at first and the bed is pretty comfy to be fair but it isn't yet ready for guests (particularly at the price they charge). Tried to have a shower in the morning and the shower door completely came off. My partner spent 15mins attempting to put it back on so that I could shower. When I told the pub this a comment was made that they were always having to put it back on the runners - temporary fixes are not good enough, it just needs a new shower enclosure! No discount was given and at £65 a night I expect much more than this. Friends stayed in a b&b opposite for about the same price and they had luxury, especially compared to ours. Breakfast was basic and ok but they dont offer gluten free options which is surprising in this day and age but luckily I brought my own bread. Watched the football in the pub on the Sunday evening and that was lovely though and friends said the food was pretty good and very reasonable. So in summary, visit the pub but...

Disappointing, an offer of bed and breakfast should mean bed and breakfast, but this pub has decided not to do food!!! So, it is just bed in a tiny room with no wardrobe no hangers and not even a hook on the wall to hang your clothes. The bed is fine if you have a bad back and an aversion to soft comfort. And the final disappointment is the rooms are over the seating area of a packed pub with live music and no peace until after 2am. The room is inexpensive, but with a hard bed no breakfast and no chance of sleep until at least 2 am this B&B without a 'B' is not for the...

Me and 2 friends spent 4 nights here this week and we had a great stay. Julie is a very good host and was responsive to several special requests we had. The rooms are clean and beds are very comfortable. The pub is well-run with younger bar staff who were friendly and capable. It was good to see it busy and attracting a cross-generational crowd who are also friendly. Happy hour from 17:00-18:00 with pints at £3.

From what I saw, Brightlingsea is a lovely town and I hope to return again soon to explore...
