This looked like it would be a great pub to stop for a few drinks as visitors to Brightlingsea. It was busy inside and out and seemed to have a bustling atmosphere, which drew us to visit. Sadly the mood was let down by the person who served us, as she made no effort at all to be friendly or welcoming, and seemed disinterested in engaging with myself and my partner to any length. After taking our drinks orders (no small talk required!), she avoided talking to or looking at either of us. I asked a question about the draft lager I had ordered, but she blanked me completely and continued to look away. Perhaps it was because we were visitors rather than locals?
