The food we had was very tasty and well presented. The chef is obviously passionate about what he does. Unfortunately, the front of the house needs shaping up as there's no point him producing food if it's not being sold properly by the people who connect with the customers. There was, apparently, a paella menu, out of our line of sight, that no one even mentioned, which we only saw on paying our bill! We noticed the board with the extras on but again, this wasn't pointed out. There was a cocktail menu that stated any drink we wanted could be made to order, but when we asked if that meant we could have mocktails, as some of us didn't want alcohol, we were met with a blank look. The portion sizes were bizarre. All of us have had tapas in Spain by the way. We ordered large plates, and when the tortilla arrived it wasn't enough for 1 person, let alone 4 to share, so I'm intrigued to know what the small plates consisted of? We so wanted this to be a great experience for a birthday treat, but it just about mustered an ok from us all. As a retired restaurant manager, I could see they were trying, but first impressions last. So please sort out the front of house, so that your wonderful produce gets the promotion it deserves, before...
Read moreVisited on their opening night with family to celebrate a birthday. There were teething problems, mostly centred around unfamiliarity with the till system, however with the friendly staff and incredibly passionate chef I have no doubt that they’ll work those out quickly. The atmosphere of this place is perfect for spending time with friends & family whilst having a drink and some food, but like many tapas restaurants it doesn’t work smoothly with the traditional English dinner format, I’d give 5 stars for service if this approach was explained better when ordering. The food was good and beautifully presented, especially the buffalo bon bons. I’d give food 5 stars but I think the portion sizes need reevaluating. It’s not necessarily bad value for money but some dishes weren’t big enough to share properly. Whilst this is down to personal taste, I think some dishes could also be improved by simplifying them to a more traditional recipe, this applies mostly to the tortilla. Otherwise, we had a wonderful evening and looking forward to visiting again when the sun is out, until then I wish the team the best of luck with their new restaurant 😊 (also this would be a perfect restaurant to host a bottomless brunch sort...
Read moreHad a lovely evening here, I would class myself as a foodie and well travelled and I was really impressed with the tapas. We had about 8 different dishes and each one had beautiful presentation and so much flavour, it was like a party in my mouth. The paella is not traditional and its the restaurants own spin on it but it was jam packed with seafood and fresh ingredients. Had the churros for dessert and they were sooo good, still thinking about them days later! My friend and I also had a jug of sangria and cocktails that were delicious and I was very shocked in a good way when the bill come as it was really reasonable. I do not know anyone to do with this restaurant so this review is unbiased but really felt like it was deserved. I just knocked one star off for service because I felt they could have done with another member of staff as a couple of times I felt like we had to wait or try to signal for a waitress but not due to their fault as they didnt stop working. The staff that were there were perfect, positive, friendly and perfect customer service. The pictures are their half portions, 8 priced at £4-5 each was perfect for 2 of us but they also do a full portion of each dish as well. Can't wait to...
