We were there on a Saturday and it was a hot day, the courtyard tends to be where the smokers go so we sat on pavement opposite which had nice shade . Food was very tasty just a bit expensive for the size of portion . Good selection of drinks and staff pleasant enough, been a few times so that says something.

Terri and Diane (pictured) run the best pub in Harwich! What a friendly welcome and great beers and food too, served in a cozy real British pub with real fires. Check out the pics and support these 2 wonderful people and their local business.

Visited the New Bell for the first time for Sunday lunch. Excellent food, nice atmosphere, and Dogs are welcome. They also had a band playing at 16.00 but unfortunately we left before they came on.

I think we must have gone when staff were having an off day. A hot sunny day at lunchtime and this pub, a stone's throw from the beach had one person behind the bar and trying to do lunch service as well, needless to say it wasn't working. In addition to this, they had a lunch menu with about four items on it, not the menu advertised online or even in the pub, as they were "training a new chef" who, if he had even considered catering college let alone attended, I would have eaten my hat as it would have been tastier and better presented. The chips, for example tasted of scampi so fried in the same oil one assumes, good luck if you have...

Ventured to this quaint little pub when visiting Harwich after reading good reviews online, and it didn't disappoint! I love pubs like this..you can feel the age and history of them. It was warm and cosy, and what was presumably the landlady was very friendly. We turned up just as the chef was about to clock off, but they kindly stayed on for us and cooked us a delicious meal- much obliged! I had the "humongous" steak pudding, and it was exactly that! With some of the best mash I've had and seasonal veg. Sadly I didn't get a photo of it, but rest assured it was a gut buster in the best possible way! Highly...

Super super friendly and helpful people here. We were bushed after a long days travels and just wanted a g'n't and a comfortable place to have something to eat. Their kitchen was closed, but they were happy for us to order a takeaway and even provided naplins, crockery, and cutlery for us. The drink selection was great - several well chosen wines, 4+ hand pulled beers, a nice selection of very good gins. They also had a range of local ciders, which, had we more time, I would certainly have sampled. Pleasant atmosphere, good prices and all located in a traditional feeling but light and airy pub. Can't speak...
