Very Good service, attentive, keen to please. Meal was good for money, especially main course deal, less so pudding. Good atmosphere, with good segregation of the football fans and the resteraunt family area. Overall enjoyed visit and beer was not overpriced either! A good Greenking pub, Recomended. Visited a couple of times since, the meal deal is great value, today's fish was a little undercooked, but still nice. Service is still good and a nice enjoyable meal, though getting very busy 24/11/2023, Had a good meal, I went for the Chip shop platter, this was O.K, but not great, a bit of a mix, 4 small scampi, small but nice fish spoilt by soft batter (again, had soft batter w visits back), battered sausage, chips, peas and curry grave, served with w stale bread slices, It is good value, but cooking and bread left room for improvement. My partner had cheese and onion pie slice, mash and peas with gravy, nice, good but not strong flavour of pie, enjoyed. Value overall was good, quality fair. 01/07/2024 Relatively empty but it was only just past 17:30, we went for one of the meal deals two fish and chips at £12.49 , what a deal, it appeared though that they weren't quite up for cooking for as many people were as were in the pub probably about 10 covers, but it took quite a while for the food to come out. Can't complain though fish and chips were very nicely cooked, plate was moderately size, plenty for the wife, me I am always a little hugrier! The fish was nice, a white fish, nice thick fillet in a good crispy batter, at £12.49 for two meals, how can you complain. Overall a very nice quick supper with a pint. 02/09/2025 - A great pub with great staff and freat value! The meal deals are supberb for the money, with well cooked meals, portions suitable for those with lighter appetites ( on the deals) of well cooked pub grub. We enjoyed the steak.pie classic deal today with 2 meals at £13.49. The service was good, the meal enjoyeable, and the serving suited my wife perfectely. I was left a little hungry, but as I need to eat that little bit less...

Came in for lunch with my mother in law as we used to eat frequently here and we were very disappointed. We asked if food was being served and a disinterested lady said yes, I then asked if we were to sit anywhere as in the passed we were shown to a table. The response again was yes. Pub and restaurant were quiet but I still had to wait a bit to be served. I had the chicken which was Luke warm and louisiana style not in the slightest bit crispy but some how the thighs were cool and burnt. Chips didn't taste fresh. No tartar sauce for fish and chips. When we asked was told they run out. No check back on our food, our plates were cleared and we were asked if there was a pudding to follow which there was. After quite a wait we asked the same girl where the desert was and she carried on cleaning tables before going in to the kitchen and never returned to us. 5 minutes later a guy brought out the wrong desert when I said I asked for the sponge not crumble he went back to the girl on the bar who went through the orders and they continued to talk about us right in front of us.

To note the staff had their hair down - not h&s. There were no product labels on sauce bottles and they were putting sauces together the end of the bar to refil the empties. Not a good look.

Rude staff. Cold food not enjoyable! Dirty, sticky menus. Loose toilet seat that slid under me.

Certainly won't be returning which is a shame as we have been eating there for years!

Can I just say this pub would be such a lovely place if they hired staff with a bit of respect, manners and just basic customer service. When we entered this pub last night, our friend was looking at the menu on his phone whilst the rest of us went up to order our drinks, we were then told by Kat (the owner, to make it worse) in a very abrupt tone ā€œis your friend over there actually ordering a drink otherwise he can get out, we’re not a charity.ā€ I mean, excuse me? There was no need to put it so rudely, just enquiring would’ve been fine. Our friend then goes to order his drink with his legitimate ID and is told ā€œno it’s fake.ā€ When coming back annoyed with his coke, we went up and asked how on earth the ID is fake, providing extra proof through email of him passing his driving test in the exact same name. It was also explained that this was one of the new ID’s and that’s why it wasn’t the same as the rest of ours. The reply we got from this was ā€œI don’t care, I’ve made up my mind and that’s that he’s not getting alcohol.ā€ I honestly have never encountered such rudeness, especially by the actual owner of a pub. I’d recommend you avoid this place at all costs. We decided to head to the Anton Arms down the road instead and honestly had the best time, the staff could not have been nicer and guess what? The ā€œfakeā€ ID worked here. Ridiculous, sort it out chestnut or just leave the job if you’re that miserable in...

We were greeted instantly and with enthusiasm by a lovely looking gentleman with dark wavey hair who directed us to a table. We were advised that there were no chicken and mushroom pies which didn't affect me as I was a vegan and proud and of course, had to tell everyone. We went to the bar to order and I asked loudly for 2 chicken and mushroom pies for a joke, which was met with a gorgeous smile, after putting my actual order in the blonde lady serving us said "buzzing" to which I replied "I'm not a wasp". This made her and her colleague facially climax with maximum laughter and I was then offered to cook my food because I was funny. I gave them a staff tip of 72 pence. As I played around with my mac and cheese I was reminded of my first date.. but tried not to get an erection under the table.. tried. Lovely place and lovely people. Look forward to seeing you all again soon 😘

Been here a few times now and we’ve never had any problems, either with booking a table or with the quantity and quality of food, and even the waiting times where very good. My only niggle is there are to many televisions in my opinion, however I completely understand that sport is a big part of our society, and some could say, don’t go there if there is sports playing, but I shouldn’t base my options around sport, maybe consider switching it off in the large room on the right as you enter from the car park doors and have a sports free area for families to enjoy conversations etc, other than that 10/10 from us Thank you for your hospitality.
