Premier Inn - The best hotel chain in Britain! You can't go wrong - comfy bed, wi-fi, air conditioning - nothing fancy but does the job, certainly at its low price. I didn't visit the Brewer's Fayre restaurant on my visit due to Covid but I have been to other branches previously and the meals and breakfast are great traditional pub food for all the family to enjoy. This hotel is great if you are visiting Andover for work/family reasons due to its cheap price for a short overnight stay or if you are staying for a walking trip as the area around Andover is great for long country walks! I visited in August for a two-day (one night) trip where on the first day we visited: Danebury Ring - An Iron-Age hillfort a few miles southwest of the town, Anton Lakes - A beautiful nature reserve situated in Andover itself consisting of two large lakes, a playground, and great spots for fishing, Andover Museum - A museum in the centre of the town which consists of an Iron-Age history museum and a museum about the history of Andover, And on the second day we visited: Whitchurch - A small town just a few miles east of Andover which is home to a silk mill and the nearby Bombay Sapphire distillery, and Combe Gibbet - A steep hill situated in the heart of the North Wessex Downs which is a great challenge to ascend on a bike and showcases beautiful panoramic views of Berkshire and beyond. P.S. An honorable mention goes to Barry the receptionist - He greeted us as we entered the hotel and was a great laugh to speak to - We all still remember him from our visit back in August!

30th of December my car broke down and since Andover is in tier 4 there are rules to obey.. Long story short I explained my situation to the lady at the desk and she was so understanding.. After going to my room I went to stretch my legs outside and this amazing woman gave me a little goodie bag with a couple of sweet treats to help me out. Being late at night in the pitch black in the middle of nowhere I was really in a bad place so it was really needed 😔 😭 I’m quite upset because Ive made the mistake of not getting her name which I really regret because she was so kind! But I really hope she sees this! Thank you team, I’d deffo stay again!

A pretty standard Premier Inn. Friendly staff - unlike more modern Premier Inns it still has a traditional reception desk. Bar/restaurant. The usual breakfast. Clean rooms. All pretty good, particularly at the incredibly low cost we got our room for (under £60). Rooms also had windows that opened. Very old skool. This made up for the lack of cool aircon (just a rather modest fan thing pretending to be aircon). Parking was free and although busy near the entrance there was plenty of room round the side.

Upon arrival, the building looked tired and unloved. After driving over 3 hours in 30+ degrees heat the main reception was even hotter no air-conditioning, we checked in and were told they tried to call us to say the restaurant was not going to be open for dinner... we had paid the extra to have an evening meal! Which was unavailable we asked where the nearest pub/ restaurant was 10-15 minutes walk it was still scorching outside, the bar was not even open to have a drink, the hallways where also so so hot our premier plus room was cool thank goodness! The room was acceptable, clean, and we had 2 bottles of water for us in the fridge. The shower leaked water from the top, damp spots above the bath. The hairdryer had an electrical problem and stopped working. Breakfast the first morning was ok a better selection of continental than the hot I loosely phrase this, sausage, grease soaked blackpudding, bacon tasteless hash browns, baked beans, tomato, mushrooms awful looking scrambled egg and fried eggs that were ok We ate the breakfast well, some of it. We sat outside with our coffee there, where 4 very tired circular picnic benches, cigarette buts everywhere alongside the scurrying of RATS|Evening meal we sat at our table our arms got stuck to the table the waitress/bar person told us it the the cleaning fluid that they use, didn't feel us with confidence, looking out of the window to see more RATS, we where told by the manager on shift that it was macdonalds fault!!!! We didn't see a single rat trap nearby. |The gents toilet near the restaurant was an absolute disgrace. The floor did not look like it had seen a mop since the day premier inn had opened .Where were the cleaning schedules?? The second Buffet breakfast was cold and inedible, not what you want when we are travelling 3.5 hours home.|The staff were trying their best, but they were clearly overworked due to a lack of staff and management support. |So to say we will definitely not be going back to the premier inn...

I have been staying at the Andover Travel Lodge for the past three weeks, and it’s been an absolute nightmare. While about half of the staff have been friendly and welcoming, the other half have been incredibly rude and unprofessional. A glaring example was last night in the bar when a customer mentioned that the menu was sparse and there was no draft beer. Instead of addressing the concern constructively, the bar staff snapped back with, "Well, if you don’t like it, maybe don’t eat here and eat elsewhere." That kind of attitude sums up the overall experience here.

The food has been horrendous, and to make matters worse, the last three nights half of the menu hasn’t even been available. With limited choices, it’s frustrating to pay for such poor-quality meals.

The overall cleanliness of the hotel is another major issue—it’s grubby, worn-out, and poorly maintained. Rats have even been spotted outside the bar area, which is absolutely unacceptable for any establishment, let alone one that’s supposed to host guests.

The room itself has been a disaster. The bed is far from comfortable, with a massive dip in the middle that makes sleeping nearly impossible. Combine that with an air conditioning and heating system that doesn’t work, and the room becomes unbearable.

The Internet is another joke. I’ve spent £45 on access, but the service is horrendous—constant disconnections and unreliable performance. Unfortunately, I had no choice but to use it for work, but it feels like daylight robbery given how useless it’s been.

After three weeks of enduring this awful experience, I’ve informed my company about the issues and strongly recommended that they never book staff here again. I’m not usually one to leave reviews, but this hotel is bloody awful. Between the rudeness, unprofessionalism, terrible food, poor facilities, and the uncomfortable bed, it’s one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed. Avoid...

Absolutely Appalling Bar Service – A Total Disgrace to Premier Inn

I’ve stayed in plenty of Premier Inns over the years, but this one in Andover has completely put me off ever booking with the chain again. The arrival and check-in process was fine, and the rooms were the standard I expected—but that’s where anything remotely positive ended.

THE BAR SERVICE WAS AN ABSOLUTE JOKE. A pitiful selection of just two lagers on tap for the entire weekend because both Guinness and Moretti were unavailable—not just temporarily, but completely off the menu. That’s bad enough, but the real insult came with the operating hours.

On Friday night, after a grueling four-hour drive, I was looking forward to a well-earned drink, only to be told last orders were at 10PM. That’s the earliest I have ever seen a bar in a hotel close—utterly ridiculous for a licensed venue. But it got worse.

After a hard day’s work on Saturday, I returned, hoping for better. Instead, I was met with a lack of pint glasses behind the bar, last orders at 9:30PM and the entire bar shut down by 10PM. Staff enforced this with rude, abrupt, and dismissive attitudes, as if guests were an inconvenience rather than paying customers. The whole experience was beyond frustrating—frankly, an insult.

This site is an embarrassment to the Premier Inn name. I will never stay here again, and honestly, after this disgraceful experience, I’ll do everything I can to avoid booking with Premier Inn anywhere in the future. If this is the standard they’re now operating at, I’d rather stay literally anywhere...
