Staying at the @premierinn I couldn't not utilise the convenience of the beefeater next door. We had dinner and breakfast.
Interior⭐️⭐️⭐️ The interior is after all mass reproduced and you can tell that it has been finessed by multiple applications. Nevertheless its tasteful, appropriate and inviting.
Service ⭐️⭐️ Overall the service wasn't horrific but there are a few points which didn't quite work for me. The evening service was fine but breakfast had a few issues
The cooker food is cooked to order however they reduced the number of each element I asked for, although I am happy to order a bit at a time, the fact they did this without saying anything about limits made me feel very judged by the amount I was eating.
There was no water on the self service area so after asking 3 times and being promised water, the fact they placed a jug out in the service area without even informing me was a bit strange.
Then the empty plates, I did in fairness build up a bit of a pile but the fact no effort was made to clear empty plates meant that the table started to fill up, should I have kept using the same plate and topping up?
Food/drink⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Sticking to the evening service
Starter - Chicken goujons - very very hot, the batter was a bit too dark for me, fryer potentially needed an oil change.
Mains - Mixed grill - all the meats were cooked well but the lump on rump was a touch overdone to my taste of medium rare but nothing major. A massive and satisfying eat. One build would be that a yolk should be runny. The rock hard egg was a bit disappointing Smothered chicken - another solid eat, some tangy BBQ flavour and the coleslaw was tasty, even if the presentation was a bit messy.
Dessert - Sticky toffee pudding - this was nothing special, it was very much school dinner quality but, to be honest, I bloody loved it!! Take it for what it is and enjoy the old school feels
Overall⭐️⭐️⭐️ There was some issues and I think I would question whether this is somewhere I would reccomend for a special occasion but as a quick, cheap and cheerful eat. I would say this is perfect, does what it needs to and I cannot fault the...
Read moreOutstanding Service from Graham, But Disgraceful Kitchen Behavior from Alex!
We had the pleasure of being served by Graham, and I cannot praise him enough. From start to finish, he was amazing—attentive, friendly, and genuinely helpful. He made sure we were well looked after, checked in regularly, and provided excellent service with a great attitude. He is truly an asset to the team, and if it weren’t for him, this visit would have been a total disaster.
Unfortunately, the kitchen experience was a complete disgrace, mainly due to the so-called chef, Alex. He was shouting so loudly that both customers and staff could hear him, creating an incredibly uncomfortable atmosphere. What shocked us the most was overhearing him say, “I’m sorry, it’s not my fault they’re fat and hungry.” This kind of disrespect towards paying customers is beyond unacceptable. On top of that, he was shouting at the staff and arguing when we pointed out that our burgers were raw. Cooking a burger properly is basic kitchen practice, yet somehow, this seemed beyond him. Instead of fixing the issue, he became defensive and dismissive.
To make matters worse, kitchen hygiene standards were clearly being ignored. We noticed that chefs with beards were not wearing beard nets, which is a basic food safety requirement. This is not only unprofessional but also unhygienic.
While Graham’s service was 10/10, the kitchen staff—especially Alex—were the complete opposite. We will be sending a formal complaint to head office because no customer should have to experience rudeness, poor hygiene, and undercooked food in what is supposed to be a welcoming dining environment. Management seriously needs to address these issues before it ruins the...
Read moreWhat a fab time we had tonight. Our waiter Graham and the manager, Anna, were both so lovely, had a lovely, interesting chat and a laugh with them both, they were very helpful, they couldn't do enough for us. They both made it a very pleasant experience for my daughter and myself. My husband was poorly, so couldn't make it, ( we were staying in the premier Inn next door) So they sorted out a meal for him, for me to take up to him first, before I had mine, so it wasn't to late for him. It was very hot, and Graham gave me foil to cover it with. Our food was also lovely, my daughter's dietary needs were also met (gluten free and vegetarian) she enjoyed her meal, very much. My sea bass was delicious as was my sundae, and our coffees were hot, as requested. I hate getting a coffee, that you have to drink straight away because its just warm. A very pleasant evening for us both, thanks to Graham and Anna, they are both an asset to the company. I hope breakfast in the morning will be equally pleasant. The resteraunt was pleasant, clean and tidy. It was busy, we didn't book, but they managed to fit us in, on a bank holiday Monday. All in all, I would gladly recomend. Well done to the staff, namely Anna & Graham, 5 stars for them. The meal deal was good value, a drink, a main and starter or dessert, and unlimited breakfast next day for £27.99. Thank you 😊 it would be lovely if all resteraunts had staff...
