Gurkha Valley — Restaurant in Tonbridge and Malling

Had our first takeaway from here tonight, Meat in the curry were lovely we tried the chicken korma and a lamb tikka masala. Coconut rice was good too along with the peshwari naan, was stuffed with coconut! My only gripe was the taste of the actual curry’s. I’m use to a korma being very strong in coconut and sweet but there was another spice or seasoning that dominated the dish causing it not to taste very korma like. The tikka sauce was good again wasn’t quite upto standards in taste that I’ve had before and had a slight spice to it again feel there was a certain seasoning or spice that took the tomato sweetness away. I’d like to try these dishes again at some point just to see if it was just a one of as everything...

As it was a special celebration, we decided not to have the lunchtime menu, good as it looked. Our visit was superb in every way - except for ourselves, no-one else came in except a home delivery chap. The decor was fresh and clean. The service just right, friendly and not intrusive. The drinks superb. The desserts very tasty. The starters were lovely samples of different dishes generous and very appetising. The main dishes were substantial and absolutely delicious, especially the King Prawn korma. We could find no fault whatsoever. First trip here and was pleasantly suprised. Definitely worth booking for 7pm on a Saturday because by 8pm it was full. Reasonable price too, £63 for two glasses of wine, momo veg and a mixed starter, all very tasty. Aloo Bodi Tama Tarkari was very tasty, and the Chicken Rogan was delicious but for the chicken being a little dry. The dish of the night was the Tarka dhal side which was lovely and creamy as it should be. Super nice staff, I imagine this place is going to get better too, I've been to more upmarket Indian/Nepalese restaurants that need to learn a thing or two from Gurkha Valley, both in terms of taste and price....
