Not a warm reception by a mature member of staff as i would of expected, a greeting with a smile goes a long way, our first table offered was right next to other diners, there was no need to sit beside other diners when theres no need in my view, there was other seating available, the staff member seemed huffed by my request to move, my meal was warm and the wife’s meal had a over cooked pie with cold potatoes and small amont of veg, she had to go and find a waitress to complain. The replacement meal for the wife took about - 10-15, which is fine, but, by this time i had eatern my meal, i wasn’t going to let it get any cooler nor was i offered for it to be warmed up. free drinks offered, my wife’s replacement meal had a pie which had gristle in it and it was only found towards end of meal, the wife mains and desert was taken of the bill, which again is fine, the overall experince could of been better as there were only 6 other people eating in the restaurant, so in my opinion, there was no need for the drop in standards for the food. that being said, the bar staff could not of been more help full, the off duty kitchen staff were at the bar drinking and being a bit loud with small mount of foul language, who were told by a member of the bar staff to quieten down,in a pub yes, in a restaraunt no. We cannot get our evening back regardless of reduction in bill. It was ashame the kitchen staff could not keep up with the standards of the bar and restraunt staff. overall experince could off been better.
Update from this review cannot seem the leave another separate review - we returned as we didn’t want this experience to leave a lasting bad feeling. The following visit was wonderful, staff were friendly and the food second to none. Well worth the revisit and i...
Read moreI wanted to praise the actions and professionalism shown by one of your bar/restaurant managers last night. After passing out at my table last night and collapsing on the floor whilst waiting for my dinner, I was immediately attended to by other patrons, and by Sven, I think the guys name was, one of the managers. Whilst I was only out for 10-15 seconds, I could hear all that was being said. A lot of the patrons were concerned about moving me before an ambulance would arrive, and I could feel the pressure being put on this young lad to do what everyone thought was best. I explained I had a cardiac event 2 weeks ago, but that wasn't the issue facing me at that moment. I've been on a lot of pain meds for many years, and explained to Sven, I didn't need to get up, but I couldn't lay there due to my significant back pain. Despite many people's concerns, all well intended, he actually listened to me and what I needed. For a young lad in his 20's, this must of been quite a pressure position to be in, no matter trained or not, I've seen many adults fold under peer pressure due to not wanting to the wrong thing in others views. He's a credit to your company, and if he's not actually management, I can't think of anything more obvious that shows the level of his resolve and maturity under difficult circumstances. After 26 years in the fire brigade, I know there's a big difference between having experience in situations, and being trained for them, and it felt to me he had them both in abundance. I cannot praise him enough, for what he didn't do, as much as what he did. Thank you. And please let me know if there's somewhere more appropriate for me to...
Read moreLast minute decision to book a table for 2 as we had a couple of vouchers to use up, booking online was nice and easy. When we arrived, there was ample parking available despite there being a Premier Inn next door. On entering the door, we were promptly greeted by a friendly staff member, our booking acknowledged and shown to our table, menus were on the table along with the NGCI menu for my wife, who is Gluten intollerant. The waitress introduced herself and then left us a few minutes to decide on drinks, then came back and took our drinks orders. For mains, my wife ordered seabass risotto, and I had steak and ale pie with chips. We then waited for an acceptable amount of time until our food arrived. The food was amazing, plenty of flavour and perfectly cooked, couldn't fault it. For dessert my wife had sorbet and I had caramel sundae which again were very good. Only minor negatives were my wife's vodka and soda waters, the first came in a reasonable sized tumbler full to the brim with soda water and the second came in a larger glass again filled to the brim, so couldn't taste the vodka, obviously a personal preference but maybe something to consider! The other thing of note is that the actual environment is looking a little tired and could do with a new carpet. But that said, overall, a very enjoyable evening, good company, excellent food, friendly staff, and good value for money. We will definitely be...
