The Rye Bakery — Restaurant in Tunbridge Wells

Gone massivly down hill the last few years. Used to do amazing fresh bread and cakes and now the cakes are all bought it. The prices are doubled and most of the cakes are stail aswell. Things like their saisage rolls sre also not freshly made in store. Just cash and carry bought then warmed up. The actual loafs of bread seem fresh so occasionally buy a seeded bloomer. But bought a loaf and a brownie and they hadnt even bothered to take it out of its plastic packaging. Cheap disgusting cake that left me £1.50 out of pocket for a bog standard stail cash and carry brownie. Dont waste your time and money

Dont really understand the logic behind this bakery. They cook sausage rolls and baked goods on site however they then put them infront of a fan and put them straight into a fridge 🤷🏻‍♀️ then if you want it warm they reheat it in a microwave leaving the items greasy, soft and unpleasant. Why not leave them in a hot counter or better still in a non refrigerated unit like greggs. That way the food would be warm and...

Great place great staff it's such a shame jempsons took over tho because the produce is now so so expensive. Every staff member is amazing so kind and friendly but jempsons have totally ruined what used to be a lively lovely cheap hearty and great place for all budgets.
