I visited this bakery with a friend last Saturday for the first time since I moved to the area. I have to commend the setup! You are immediately welcomed into an open plan warehouse allowing customers to observe the bakers tirelessly working their magic whilst the Cafe & Barista Team were pulling all the stops to make the experience that little bit better. Not to mention the intoxicating smell of the freshly baked goods. This is before I get to the coffee and pastries we ordered! Everything we had was faultless, the Croissant had that distinctive crispy yet melt in the mouth texture, whilst the cookie was decadently gooey and flavoured perfectly. We gave the leftover crossiant custard slice and a sausage role a go too, both were exceptional. The coffees we had were made with care and excellence as they tasted wonderful and lacked that harsh bitter taste a typical high street chain barista would produce with substandard beans. This bakery is a perfect place to visit as a stop off point if you're out on a walk or just in the area. Would highly recommend a visit and definitelty intend on visiting again. Thanks to the Proof Team for the wonderful experience.

I should says it's rubbish to stop people buying the last danish I've been eyeing up, but that would be a complete disservice. I grew up locally but now live in the North and having been told about the bakery a while ago by my family I finally got a chance to visit (having even read about it in "Britain's Best Bakeries" book) It was not a disappointment. The variety of bakes available is immense, the taste is worthy of the best I've previously had, the concept is epic to support those wanting skills to grow themselves, and you can even sit and watch in the cafe as they roll pastries, and knead dough (an amazing experience for both adults and kids, who are in awe). And to top it all off, the staff are so informative and friendly, happily explaining the bakes. So in short, definitely go and visit, but please don't buy the last danish I'm looking at.

What a gem of a place, Unbelievable food, great staff and it’s even dog friendly!! The smell when you first walk in is almost mesmerising, you get a hit of freshly baked bread with a deep coffee aroma and then a hint of sweetness from the pastries…………Wow! The staff greeted me straight away which was nice and after sharing a joke with them (about how my belly will grow if i came there regularly 🤣) they gave me the run down on what they were selling, Pain Au Chocolates, Almond Croissants, Cheese and Bacon Loaf etc……………(sorry i was drooling so couldn’t finish!) This little tucked away building on a Sandford industrial estate is quite simply PERFECT!! Don’t take my word for it, try it yourself 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Review of Proof Social Bakehouse

Food & Drink: Ham & Cheese Croissant: Absolutely delicious, with a perfect balance of flavors. Flat White: The coffee itself was good, though I was mistakenly served oat milk instead of whole milk, which slightly altered the experience. Hot Chocolate: Unfortunately, this was a miss for me. It had an odd taste that I wouldn’t recommend. Cookie: A solid choice—enjoyable and satisfying.

Service: The service was fairly standard for a coffee shop. One notable issue was the lack of clarity regarding the selection of cookies available, which made ordering slightly confusing. However, the system of calling out order numbers rather than specific drinks was efficient and helped maintain the flow of customers.

Atmosphere: The place was bustling, which is a positive sign, especially on a bank holiday weekend. The display of pastries was visually appealing, but I had concerns about hygiene. I noticed several customers handpicking pastries and then putting them back, which wasn’t ideal. There were not enough tongs on the shelves, and with the tight queue, many people were breathing over the food. Screens might help address these issues. On a positive note, it was enjoyable to see the entire kitchen and the process of baking goods.

Overall: Proof Social Bakehouse offers a mixed experience. The food is generally good, with the croissant and cookie standing out, but there are areas for improvement, particularly in service clarity and access to customers to...

We arrived on Saturday morning, with the commercial estate being empty, to discover that children are not welcome. The owners give estate landlords’ policy as the reason and they say they regret it, but the fact is that this place chose to rent business premises in a set up which excludes children. For a social-minded business this is frankly astonishing. If they exclude any other group of people, would that be acceptable? There are lots of other industrial estate where one can find similar business (UE coffee in Witney) so it’s not like the business didn’t have a choice. There is not dangerous production line or any practical reason to exclude children. My toddler stood outside while people with dogs were sitting inside. There are some places where children are not appropriate but getting a coffee and croissant in the morning shouldn’t be one of them. This shows the kind of community exclusion the owners are happy to see, and it’s very...
