Expensive for what it is. Ordered a BLT and to be fair, all three ingredients were included but the bacon was cold and obviously came out of a fridge pre-cooked. The sandwich for some unknown reason was cut into tiny triangles and served on a plate with a pile of unnecessary 'salad' to fill the plate out. Because the sandwich was cut up into tiny triangles it was difficult to pick up and as I mentioned, the bacon was very cold. All in all it was an unpleasant experience. To top things off, when paying, I mentioned to the young member of the staff how cold the bacon was, she just looked confused and and giggled....not the best response and poor customer service. We won't be returning.

Went with a friend for a light lunch, was seated upstairs, thankfully next to a window as it was rather dark. We both ordered jacket potato with beans and cheese. I obviously complained about the dire lack of cheese (see first pic) and that frankly I was embarrassed for them, the server brought us a pot for each (see second pic). For some reason we were given the bill while we were still eating, which is honestly so unprofessional. Staff were having difficulty using the technology used for ordering/paying. The music playing was punk rock, not at all appropriate to hear Sum41's ''the doctor said my mum should have had an abortion'' in a quaint cafe.

I wanted a small treat as part of our Mums 65th Birthday. I booked over the phone and they were very accomadating for the 6 adults for afternoon tea on a Saturday afternoon. The place itself is very cosy, quaint with historic features. The hostess Jane was amazing with us, she even offered to help us take a family photo at the end. The food was great, a good selection, and it was enough for everyone to be comfortably full. An overall wonderful experience. Thank you Cromwells from the Merrifields 😊 xx

We were lucky because a couple were just leaving as we arrived. We went to sit at the table, which had dirty plates etc. No-one came either to clear the table until my wife went over to ask for a menu. The table was cleared and our very simple order taken. We had coffee for me and tea for my wife, with what we were told was mushroom soup. The tea and coffee were fine, but the soup.. it tasted nothing like mushroom soup. My wife left hers. I did eat mine by dipping the bread in. At no stage were we asked if the food was OK. Not even when they were clearing away my wife's leftovers. Nor did anyone as if we enjoyed it when I was paying. In fact, they were more concerned about their conversation with another waitress than with talking to me. We have been going for about 17 years, but doubt that we will be going again. The owner's comment to someone else suggesting the other establishments might be better suited to their needs, may be true, but doesn't excuse poor food...

We recently held a private event at Cromwells after our daughter’s christening. I cannot recommend the place enough. From the moment we contacted Vicky and the team, they were incredibly helpful, nothing was too much trouble and everything they did for us far exceeded expectations - the room space/set up, the food, drinks and service all made the day so special. We live in the North West so organising an event at distance could have been challenging but Vicky was brilliant and knew exactly what we needed, often before we did! Whether you are popping in for a bite to eat or looking at hiring the place for a special event we highly recommend Cromwells and we are so grateful to Vicky and the team for such a...
