Not impressed! We booked a 7pm table for our wedding anniversary. On walking through the door we were greeted by a women behind the bar saying. “We’ve no carvery left, and it’s a 45 min wait for food, Don’t shoot the messenger”. I advised we’d a table reserved for 7pm and didn’t want carvery so she pootled off to check and came back with “ok, sit where u want”. ( what was the point of making a reservation?)So first impressions of customer service were pretty poor! We used the App to order and pay for our food and drinks. Drinks came quickly as did the starters. Then we waited for mains, after about 20 mins starter plates hadn’t been removed and we noticed 2 plates of food sitting on the counter, and they sat there and sat there. I was just about to ask where our food was when a staff member shouted across the room “ Are those burgers theirs” I assume she meant us! She went to the counter studied the food and then scooped the chips off the plates onto the counter and then took the plates and burgers back into the kitchen only to return a minute later plonking the plates in front of us with just the burgers on. Made a vague apology and said fresh chips were coming. The burgers were barely warm and didn’t look very appetising after sitting there over 20 mins and not only that the order was wrong! As soon as the staff member reappeared we explained the order was wrong when she promptly blamed us for using the App as it doesn’t give all the info on the ticket they get in the kitchen. Why is that our fault?? Surely this needs raising with Stonehouse or customers should be advised not to use the App when they arrive. We asked for our money back and said there was no way we were going to accept the food in that condition. There was no offer to re do the order correctly and because we’d used the App they couldn’t refund us and they said that we had to contact Stonehouse for the refund, which I said I would be definitely be doing. 2 minutes later another staff member arrived and advised they could refund us the money for the burgers. I’ve never known such a shambles. It was inadequate customer service from the minute we walked in down to the fiasco with the food. Will definitely not be going...
Read moreI had a really poor experience on Mothers Day and I would advise customers to book elsewhere. Before going into the detail, I want to point out that most of the front of house staff, particularly Emma, were great and they repeatedly apologised for how poor our experience was.
Firstly, we ordered 5 meals and my stepfather ordered a carvery. He went to collect the carvery and was served 2 wafer thin slices of chicken. We then had to ask a waitress separately for more meat, and she returned with one more slice of thinly cut chicken.
Secondly, my daughters mac & cheese came (the other 3 meals did not come with this) but unfortunately we had to send this back as it was cold and did not come with the pizza pinwheels as advertised. This was later bought back warmer (albeit not hot) and with the pinwheels and we were offered a free kids ice cream as an apology.
15 minutes later the Dirty Clucker chicken burger arrived for someone in my party. Unfortunately the top burger was cold and the second burger was undercooked (and had gone cold). This was promptly refunded by the team and they offered us another free kids ice cream.
15 minutes later my nut roast arrived (also cold) which was relatively tasty. Finally, 10minutes after this (50minutes after we ordered and 25minutes after the first adult meal that wasnt a carvery was served), my nans fish and chips came. The fish was poor quality - mostly batter and not very much actual fish, it came with no tartare sauce or lemon wedge as stated on the menu, and the chips were cold.
Emma came over and apologised unreservedly for the fact that we didnt eat much of our food and that noone had eaten together, especially as it was Mothers Day. I heard multiple tables complain separately to her and her team and I felt very sorry for them given they were not the cause of the problems.
All in it was very disappointing experience, particularly as it was Mothers Day and it was meant to be special. We will not be returning to this establishment and I would encourage others...
Read moreThis used to be a great carvery where me and my family loved to come. However with the past 2 years and today's experience in particular, I can see how badly it has gone down hill.
Fishes, Pizzas and Burgers take longer to cook therefore there is a longer wait. However it shouldn't take 1 hour to cook 1 fish. They didn't print out a slip ticket so I could collect my fish (like they usually do) but was fine with printing out slip tickets for the carvery. When asked when will the fish be ready, they told us they will come to our table to let us know, however after an hour of waiting, I go down to see 2 people had recieved their fish, so clearly they had no intention of actually telling us. My parents was literally finished with their meal before I had even received mine.
We was made to feel like we needed to rush with our meals with staff coming up to the table to ask my mum (who still had half a plate full with food) if she was finished with her meal.
We overheard one family who had booked a reservation online being told they had no tables available for them, even though they had booked in advance!
Whilst I was waiting for my fish, at least 3 other people was waiting for food that wasn't a carvery (fish, pizza, chicken dippers I think) and there was a burger just left out on the side for at least 15 minutes - clearly the person who ordered it hadn't been notified that it was ready.
At the end of the meal there was flies buzzing around the plates (luckily we was finished at least)
One of the staff told me that the reason for the long wait was because they were training up employees but why not train them up out of hours or with spare staff so they don't disrupt the services they should be providing.
This place use to be one of my favourites however until a major changes has been made to make this a more reliable and enjoyable service, I will not be...
