This is the first time of visiting and we found the staff very friendly upon arrival. We were taken to our table given a good amount of time to decide on drinks, unlike some places who are asking what you would like before you are even seated. Unfortunately the table was squashed in a corner, which although good becaue we had a dog, they wasn't much room for my partner to move his chair and positioned the dog bowl so she could eat was awkward near my feet. We ordered the nacho starter to share but after about 5 minutes we were informed that they were waiting for a technician to arrive and couldn't do the nacho meal. We went straight to 2 roast dinners. There are 4 meats listed, you choose 1 and pay extra if you want a 2nd option, however there was plenty of meat when it came. . We waited about 10 minutes for the meals to arrive. There was plety on our plates, mash, roasties, carrots, peas, red cabbage, 2 meats (we both paid for a 2nd one) and a yorkshire pudding with plenty of gravy. My yorkshire pudding however was very well done, almost burnt in fact, so we swapped as it was too much for me, but perfect for my partner. My roasties were lukewarm, but everything else was hot and lovely. My partners meal was all lovely and he had no complaints. It was lovely.to see proper big homemade yorkies and not these small manufactured ones you get everywhere else. We ordered one of the dog meals which had plenty of meat, veg and mash and. was wolfed down in no time.
We rounded off the meal with puddings, a sticky toffee pudding with ice cream (custard available) and a crumble with custard.
Despite my burnt yorkshire, lukewarm.roasties and a table cramped in the corner we will be returning. It was my fault for not asking for a different table straight away, next time i would mention when booking.
The pub has a very relaxed atmosphere, no one rushes you to order. The food is very good quality and the staff are very attentive. I saw a steak pie arrive at the next table which looked lovely too. We would highly recommend, in fact as we were leaving we were already discussing when we would return and what we would...
Read moreFirst time for us here. Lovely looking place inside and has a cosy feel. Ordered Sunday lunches. One word to describe them is 'average'. Their was nothing really special about them if I'm honest, meat was OK, Yorkshire pudding ok, veggies ok, but the roasties were poor, old, dry and shrivelled up as if they'd been stood for a long time. The Gravy seemed to be just bisto, therefore no real flavour. We ordered 2 puddings. Treacle sponge and ice cream which was really nice and an Apple crumble, or what we thought. Took around 30 mins to come out after they cleared our mains plates away. The crumble was in fact Rhubarb and Ginger, when we looked back at the menu it was our mistake thinking it was apple as it just said crumble. The young waitress however didn't pick up on this and clearly didnt know the menu or waiting times so more communication needed there! We got our money back for the crumble as the taste was revolting. It was as if someone had thrown a tub of ginger into the mix which really was unedible. The young waitresses lacked finess and energy and even one of the girls looked like she didn't want to be there at all...a smile goes a long way! The manager who we spoke with was really pleasant and communicated with us about our experience which was nice. She was doing most of the running around. I think the place has got potential however many tweaks needed overall to lift the food and...
Read moreThe Three Houses has been on our radar for about three years but we have never quite managed to go until last Thursday, what a treat we have been missing, it defiantly won’t be three years until we go again. We booked online, which was really easy, the only thing being you have to give a first and second choice of room you want to sit in. Since this was our first visit I didn’t have a clue so I picked the restaurant for our first choice and just plumped for another room off the list for our second choice. Fortunately we got the restaurant, I still don’t know which the other rooms are, my fault I should have asked. We dropped lucky on a Thursday evening they have an offer of two 10oz rump stakes and a bottle of Tempranillo wine (chose from red, white or rose) for £24.95, for desert my wife had Banoffee pie topped with ice cream and toffee Sauce and I had the Sticky toffee pudding topped with ice cream and toffee sauce, both priced at £6.00. All the food was cooked to perfection, the staff were friendly and polite; the whole place had a wonderful charm and atmosphere. Cannot wait for...
