Now I've known the owner Shah for a little while from previous restaurants that he ran, and I said just to surprise us with dishes, so we did not know what to expect but I am happy to say we were blown away by everything we received. Loved the Shami kebab, basically minced kebab with what I think was an omelette on top? it was delicious in any case. Bombay Aloo Chops were again lovely and the Garlic Naga Wings well they were incredible, not gonna lie my eyes did water a little ๐Ÿ˜… (not for the faint of heart) And on to the mains, both of the curries were delicious. Hayley had the Butter Chicken and this was lovely, mildly spiced but very flavorsome. I had Deshi Naga Kalai Lamb and this was ridiculously good, very spicy and very unique in flavour... really not sure I can compare it to previous dishes I've tried which is saying something. The lamb was super tender too! We also loved the 1988 Grill, everything was cooked perfectly and very nicely seasoned. Needless to say I highly recommend you visit this place ASAP! ๐Ÿ‘‰ Follow @wayneseats on Instagram & Facebook for more reviews like this! ๐Ÿ˜œ

Came here twice, I would say it's deffo worth a visit. The best part of this place is the scenery, picture perfect on the seafront. It was a special occasion so on our booking notes we asked to be sat on a quiet, private table but was actually directly placed next to loud and drunk men which wasn't the best. We could've asked to be moved, but the place we sat first was already filled. So that was unfortunate and could've been planned a little better. Any other day we wouldn't have minded as much. The lamb chops and I had were very flavoursome, I could've easily ordered more. That's something I'd definitely come back for! And to sit in the pods as I love the sea. I just already felt uncomfortable because of the loud and obnoxious atmosphere but of course I wish that wasn't the case seeing as though it was our anniversary meal. My husband also enjoyed his food so overall we rate food 6.5/10, we did enjoy the flavours and wish to book at a less busy time to hopefully find more delicious options on the menu. So yeah, it's worth a visit for friends may be not as much for a couple on a dinner date.

Fantastic meal (takeaway) would highly recommend and will be a returning customer! Weโ€™ve been meaning to try 1988 for a while and as itโ€™s freezing tonight we decided to opt for a takeaway instead of eating in. Delighted to see 1988 delivered to us on Just-eat! We ordered a chicken tikka Bhuna, chicken tikka jalfrezi, pilau rice, mushroom bhaji, garlic naan and onion bhajis. Everything was fresh and delicious and the chicken tikka pieces were excellent quality. The sauces on the Bhuna and Jalfrezi were full of flavour - spot on! This is far superior to any previous Indians we had in the Barry area and we will be returning! We were concerned our food might be cold as we live in the west end of Barry and the restaurant is in Sully. Not a problem! Food was handed over from an insulated bag by the driver. I gave mine 30 seconds in the microwave as I like my food piping hot, but my husband said his was perfect without heating up.

This is the new place to be! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘

In terms of the food... outstanding!

Now I've known the owner Shah for a little while from previous restaurants that he ran, and I said just to surprise us with dishes, so we did not know what to expect but I am happy to say we were blown away by everything we received.

We were on a drive through holiday and someone had recommended the restaurant also went by reading the reviews whilst we were in the area we decided to go, one mistake we made we forgot to book a table but seeing we were close to opening time my husband asked and they said they would give us a table if we could give the table back by 7, there was about 1 1/2 we said fine, we felt rushed but glad to have the table. The starters looked good but lacked taste and bland Infact I had to ask for salt, the onion bhaji was oily, the mains were bland as the starter, my husband has said clearly no butter on the naan well they only gone and put double butter on one and about the same on the other, first the guy didnโ€™t want to change this even though it was their mistake, my husband said he doesnโ€™t like butter on his naan, whilst this happened we just had to wait, the food got cold, we felt rushed by them, there was ten minutes left we asked for coffee and was told sorry we need the table, looking around there were lot of tables empty after we paid up someone brought the towel, didnโ€™t ask if we wanted desert, when we asked them to pack the left over Briyani the guy brought a container and mumbled that we had to pack it ourself, well thank you very much for your service. This restaurant is the worse hence my review and the rating, the food lacked taste, I found them to be rude, they could have accommodated us by moving us to another empty table when we asked for coffee, instead they made us feel bad, we are a paying customer and should have been treated just like the others customer instead treating us bad. We will not be visiting this restaurant again and will not recommend...

We were sat in the section by the door and it was absolutely freezing. We told multiple waiters but none of them did anything. They didnโ€™t even attempt to look at the radiator behind us to see if they could get it working. It doesnโ€™t help that thereโ€™s no tablecloths on the tables and they are also freezing cold due to the material they are made from.

The cocktails on the menu look really cheap but the reason for this is because they are non alcoholic which is not stated on the menu.

We asked for water for the table. They brought us a jug but with no glasses.

Plates were brought out ready for the food and all of our plates were cold. They really should be warmed.

Food was nice but they started clearing the table whilst we were all still eating. This is very off putting whilst youโ€™re trying to eat. Iโ€™ve seen on another review that they did this but because plates were โ€˜stacked highโ€™. No plates were stacked on our table and the whole party was still eating.

Food was nice but I wouldnโ€™t return. The main restaurant looked nicer and warmer but wouldnโ€™t want to risk going again and being sat in the foyer and the service couldโ€™ve been so much better.

Really...
